I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant today. The curry chicken was incredibly tasty, and the pattie was cooked just right, with a delightful crunch. However, the decor feels a bit outdated and could benefit from some updates, such as new carpets and replacing the green seating. Adding a TV and playing some reggae music in the background would definitely bring more life to the atmosphere. The customer service was excellent, especially from the older sister, who was very kind. I also appreciated that they served the food on plates for dine-in customers. The food at Dunns River Caribbean Cafe is overly greasy, with nearly everything deep-fried. I ordered the fried rice and was surprised to find a layer of oil at the bottom, along with some blackened pieces that looked burnt. The dish was so unappealing that I could only eat a few bites before stopping. I ended up having dinner at the Korean restaurant next door instead. I wanted to try something different, but if this is typical Caribbean cuisine, it’s not for me.
I just picked up my order from this restaurant, and it was my first time trying it out. I ordered beef patties, jerk wings, and curried cabbage. Unfortunately, the beef patties had no flavor, the jerk wings were the worst I’ve ever had—they tasted like cinnamon and definitely weren’t grilled. The curried cabbage was equally tasteless. I don't think I will eat here again. You should read the other reviews before deciding to go here; I feel like I wasted my money.
Truly authentic and homemade flavors! We dined in, and although takeout is convenient, there’s something special about having your meal served on a plate with outstanding customer service. The curry goat was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The oxtail stew was flawless, and the beef patties tasted like they were made from scratch.
