This is a staple place whenever we visit St. George. The food is very good, and this is only one of the few places that has an Tromp for serving Tacos and Pastor. For some reason, Trompos are hard to find in the State of Utah. If you are not sire what a 'Trompo ' is, it is the ball of pastor meet that is placed on a stick for cooking against an open flame. This is the way Original Tacos al Pastor are cooked in Mexico City. The Trompo makes it possible to achieve a perfect blend of crispy meat and keeping the juices and the sauces and seasoning. I had a terrible experience at this restaurant! I ordered the green enchiladas, but the sauce tasted like it was straight from a can. The rice and beans were also very disappointing. The worst part was how dirty the restaurant was; all the tables were covered in food, and the floor was in just as bad a condition. There was an unpleasant odor throughout the place. At the bar, where they had sauces and vegetables, the cut lemons looked like they had been sitting out for days and were well past their prime. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place, and I just hope I don’t end up getting sick from it.
The Coyote Charro probably offers the best Al Pastor in the whole state. I highly recommend trying the tacos; they’re definitely worth it. I'm also a big fan of the unlimited pinto beans. One little detail that caught my attention was the quality of the limes, which I really appreciate in a Mexican restaurant. The food was so delicious that I forgot to snap a picture until I was already halfway through—sorry about that! Overall, it was a fantastic meal, and if you love Mexican cuisine, you absolutely need to give this place a visit.
However, there were some downsides. They were pricier than what we're accustomed to (over $100), especially considering that most places serve limes and onions, but these only came with meat on the corn tortilla. I had the Asada Fries, and they were amazing! I've never tasted the blend of Mexican cuisine with French fries before, and it was a wonderful combination. They have a salsa bar with onions, cilantro, and lemons. The service was a bit on the slow side, and the restaurant has a casual, dive-like atmosphere, but El Coyote Charro is absolutely worth checking out. I'll definitely be coming back!
We wanted to have pollo loco tonight but when we arrived at 7pm it was closed. We were bummed and looked around. My family and I walked into El Coyote Charro and it was a ghost town don’t let that intimidate you . The food not only came out FAST but DELICIOUS. I ordered three tacos and a burrito which I shared and we were so happy that pollo loco was closed! Don’t miss out! Trust me!
Absolutely repulsive! We entered the restaurant but quickly decided to leave. The counters and glass display cases were dirty and filled with old mess, and the exposed salsas looked very unappealing. The dim lighting seemed to be an attempt to conceal the lack of cleanliness. I can't even begin to think about how sanitary the kitchen must be if the front area was in such a state.
The food is delicious and authentic. We got pretty much one of everything and I don't have any complaints about the food. I thought the price was decent too. I'll definitely go back. The food was subpar at best. The restaurant was not clean, and I'm uncertain how it managed to pass its health inspection. The entire establishment had an odor and atmosphere reminiscent of a damp mop. I would suggest giving this place a miss.
