Our dinner at El Nido was comically bad. Our waitress initially misunderstood what one diner wanted and wrote down a different dish. That got corrected, but the correct dish was mis described by the waitress, and ended up getting returned to the kitchen. She also mis described the soup as being mostly puree with only a little cream, when in fact it was puree plus a lot of cream. It ended up going to the diner whose main course was mis described. Then the wine that we ordered was not actually in stock and a different wine was presented, with no explanation. I pointed out that it wasn't the same wine, which seemed to confuse the waitress. I took a great class to make on mozzarella and stayed for dinner. the personal was so courteous and a pleasure to speak with them. the oysters were fleshy and were very full. the delicious trout, asparagus and kartoffels were presented on a teller similar to a piece of aspen; a tree that they would meet if they had gone trout fishing in the opposite. the cream brûlée was raised to a pie level, a wonderful tasty to my taste buds. As long timer Tesuque residents, 26 years, we have a long history with El Nido. The early years (Dennis and Don) were great. We have tried several times over the recent years, with mixed results. Friday night was the worst. The noise level was unpleasant and a distraction. We realize some folks equate that with having a good timer. We'd rather visit unimpeded. The pasta dish I ordered was very dry and without much flavor at all. The ONLY person who asked us about our experience was the receptionist as we reclaimed our coats. You seem to be doing well, judging from the cars in the lot (we drive by every day/night), so obviously what you are offering appeals to many just not us.
To say this restaurant is an experience is an understatement. Ask to sit at the Chef's table where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and the artistry that goes into making these impeccable plates. The meat station is handled with care and expertise as well as the Sous Chef taking care of plates and manning the wood fired oven. The food is flavorful, service is spot on and the experience rivals some of the best spots in Santa Fe. we were able to sit at the table for our dinner and what an AWESOME option is. the restaurant is actually quite quiet, but besides the open kitchen we sit to see and hear and feel the entire process of a first-class staff that orchestrates a restaurant meal. the appetiser were especially the tuna carpaccio amazing. the evening meal was also excellent. the meat that was cooked on the wood grill and in the wood oven was tasteful.
Modern/ rustic, romantic ambiente, great service and tasteful, creative and high-quality menu at various award points. I loved the caption margarita (no salt), fennel/samon and butternut Squash/Burrata, the feigenpizze, the boar ragu papardelle and chef enriques cleverly named meat and kartoffel special. we went as a group and could try many things on the menu. that would also be a great time!
silvester menu: each cure a ensemble; a symphony of a meal. a wonder of eating and menu planning rivaled, not balanced, only from san francisco, waimea and oxfordshire experiences. we told every taste of the meal in reverie, ended with a strong coffee. thanks for the best meal of our life!
