Went there for breakfast. Eggs were orderd over easy and came hard as a rock, fried potatoes were horrible and the onions in the potatoes were just long globs of onions. Bacon was the only saving grace. Like it would kill them to chop them up with a knife. My wife also hated the globs of onions but said she wouldn't have been able to eat the flavour less dry potatoes without them. Neither of us finished our breakfast.And if it couldn't get any worse,they dont take credit cards or debit cards. Instead they direct you to a bank machine at the entrance which charges you a fee for using it. The loud Asian woman yelled "show me the money" when I came to pay my bill First time eating there. went for brunch today, Sunday. Sign at door says Cash only so an ATM is at the door for convenience. On Sundays there is no fried foods available, no fries, no fish etc. No fries to have wirh a burger seems odd to me since I emjoy them occasionally.Specials all around on blackboards makes it easy to see. Prices are really reasonable Huge omelet wirh peameal bacon, cheddar cheese, mushrooms and onions with toast was 9.95, half of which i had to bring home. Food was really tasty. I would go again on a different day and try a burger and fries. Lots of parking and place was full so is very popular.Service was very good and food came nice and hot.
Eli's is the kind of breakfast-and-lunch place my husband and I love to find when traveling: the ones (other than the chains, that is) where locals meet. The breakfast menu offers a variety of favourites, and the blackboard lists further daily specials. Especially tempting for non-vegetarians are the egg dishes that come with a choice of bacon, back bacon, sausage, Polish sausage, or smoked ham--all from Chatham's own Schinkels' Gourmet Meats. The house-made corned beef hash is salty but delicious. If it weren't for our rule to try a different place each day of a trip, we'd have returned the next morning!
We go here for brunch almost everyday. The owner is so funny, if you appreciate her sense of humor but the food is always great. The portions are very generous so you never leave hungry. The staff is so friendly and Eli (Chef extraordinary) is always cooking up a storm. Everyone knows everybody who goes there, just like sitting in Mama's kitchen, so get friendly. You can also order takeout or trays for those gatherings with family or friends. I recommend the Lasagna or Cabbage Rolls, but ask and they can likely make what you want.
