We were looking for somewhere to stop to eat and this place was pretty highly recommended. The first dining room was pretty full so we were shown into the second room which was ideal as we had our pretty largish dog with us. We had asked if they allow dogs in. There is an extensive buffet for starters in the chilled cabinet we were first in the new room so it was untouched and looked splendid, in fact all dishes looked very tempting, I managed to restrict myself the three, the avocado was particularly nice. Warm welcome, seated quickly with a smile. The buffet starter was extensive with plenty choice. This was followed by a choice of five main courses to be fair on the day we were there three were two which I wouldn't touch trip and andouille) but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the steak, my husband enjoyed the fish and there was a very nice looking shepherd's pie. A nice cheese plate to follow to accompany the bottle of wine included in the formule with water and lemonade, followed by mouse, lemon tart or an ice cream. This was fantastic value at 13:50 and most enjoyed.
GREAT value at lunchtime and evening, used by lorry drivers who are always most polite and busy chatting amongst themselves ... and who know good value when they see it. Not if you like posh dining but hey, for the price you get a huge buffet (sometimes with lobster, prawns, crab, etc) with lots of fresh French bread, a choice of mains served at your table, a generous basic cheesboard, a choice of very simple puds, and half a bottle of wine per person. Service is always quick and with a smile, and you can move to the bar for coffee afterwards.
Called in for lunch. Buffet d'entree and a choice of 5 or 6 main courses I had the tripe sausage which was lovely, and my wife and daughter had the sole. The sole was cooked to perfection. A choice of 5 cheeses before finishiing off with a choice of desserts. Who can complain for €13 per head Don't come here for the linen and ambiance, but for the great wholesome and wonderful food. Don't be put off by the trucks and truckers.
