Before starting our hiking in the vicinity of Hartmannweilerkopf, we ate a delicious lunch here. Genuine kindness and a welcoming attitude by the proprietors, a superior local dry white wine, delicious food, reasonable pricing, and a stunning view added up to a remarkable lunch. The smoked ham with a generous portion of mashed potatoes was very tasty. The assortment of local meats and wurst had excellent flavor, again with the mashed potatoes, and was accompanied by a local specialty of a sort of cottage cheese with chives/green onions. If you want to eat somewhere special this is it, stunning views, Good local food and the staff are very hospitable even when a large group like ours booked just the day before 12 As a vegetarian the chef made me the most tasty salad and for dessert the lemon sorbet was divine. Our waitress spoke very good english and didnt bring me the 30 bottles of water I accidentally asked for : and was able to understand our very poor french and even teach us a few french words, she made a fantastic night that extra special as despite being run off her feet with serving our large party, she was full of cheer, knew the menu well and offered up local knowledge when we asked about the area. Visited with the family myself my wife and three children, aged 13,11,5. after visiting the WW1 track, we came at 14:30 to the restaurant. The staff were definitely unfriendly, and we had to wait for a long time to get any type of service. Then we were informed there is only a cold meats or desserts. As we were already seated we ordered and are. We left rather hungry and upset at the service. The upside is that the cold meats, wine, and desserts were good quality. Nevertheless definitely a down. Maybe only rude to English speakers.
Amazing meal at Molkenrain. Table of 12 we all enjoyed a tasty rustic typically French meal with wine and cheese from the area. Watching the cows and goats from a beautiful french farmhouse. The staff were friendly and fun even though we were a bit excitable and loud. If you can find a designated driver it is well worth winding up the hill for. Thank you so much for a great night. We will be back

On a eu ce qu’on était venu chercher : une vue magnifique, une bonne cuisine de terroir abordable et fait maison. Service rapide, on a pu profiter de la terrasse avec les quelques rayons de soleil. On est allé faire coucou aux vaches et chèvres. Si vous montez un tout petit peu plus haut, 50 M mais gros dénivelé. La vue est superbe. Je recommande cette adresse ça vaut le coup de monter !
A place i did went numerous time under new management don't expect a grande cuisine just Basic Alsace specialities ,fresh salad and frozen blueberries tart, the new management since to be more professional, the kitchen looks much cleaner , avoid weekends just too busy and reserve your table in the main dining room, just fisnih your meal with a local home made Munster cheese
We had a piece of cake and cafe after a long walk in the mountains. The team is kind, the food is good quality as well as the price payed. Before leaving, You can as well buy some local specialities . The panorama from the restaurant is amazing. We will come back
Magnifique endroit en direction du Hartmannwillerkopf. Ici on ne vous accueille pas en vous demandant si vous avez réservé, on s'occupe de vous, on vous installe. La cuisine est goûteuse et très copieuse. On se sent bien dans cette salle chaleureuse.

Fresh, copious and delicious menus. Unfortunately, the staff wasn’t very helpful and we were seated at one table with strangers, even though we had a reservation. Not all dishes available to eat on the outdoor terrace to take in the beautiful view.
Came here on a week night. Place was packed for a good reason (had made reservation). Great service in a very Alsacien place. And the food was good and plenty of it!
