I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem in West Orange, NJ – Folklore Artisanal Taco – and it quickly became my favorite spot for authentic, delicious tacos. From the moment I stepped inside, I was welcomed by Sonya, who greeted me with a warm smile and exceptional kindness while taking orders. Her attentiveness and insightful recommendations enhanced my delightful experience. Following her suggestion, I decided to try the shrimp tacos, which were absolutely delicious. Each taco was generously filled with perfectly cooked shrimp, wrapped in a soft corn tortilla, and topped with fresh onions and cilantro or mixed cabbage. I moved to WO a few years ago and have given Folklore a try many times, as it’s very quick and walkable from my home. However besides one or two, what now seem like fluke orders, the food continues to be mediocre at best and terribly overpriced. Tonight I ordered a steak and chicken quesadilla as well as a side order of guacamole. My total came to nearly $40 for two soggy, tasteless quesadillas and an underwhelming small container of guacamole. I would hardly count what I received as guacamole, since it was mostly avocado. The food at this restaurant is really fantastic. We started with an appetizer before our meal and didn't have to wait long for our food. The restaurant has an authentic Mexican atmosphere, right down to the plates and cups (mine was served on a ceramic tile with a wooden frame, as seen in the picture). I ordered the folklore tacos with chicken, which were delicious. The only downside is the price - my plate of three tacos cost $13, although this may have changed due to the pandemic. It's also worth noting that the restaurant is quite small and may not be suitable for large groups.
Had the tilapia tacos they were fresh and I can tell they were of high quality, but the line and acid y veggie topping was not for me. Do get their horchata! I still recommend the place though, the people inside were kind and hard working, plus the store is themed well.

In any case, this restaurant serves delicious tacos that are popular in the area. I tried the Tacos Mula and it was incredibly tasty. The staff is very professional, particularly Gisela and the entire team. Thank you for the excellent service.
Small location but food was pretty fresh just like their tortillas (felt like hand made), churros and meats. Tacos can be a bit pricey but depending of the choices you make. But over all very good tacos!
Loved my lunch here! I wish I had gone with some friends or family so I could have sampled more. That being said, I loved my tacos, they came quickly and were absolutely delicious. ? I will be returning
This restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere that truly captures the essence of Mexican culture. The service is quick and efficient. Don't forget to try the Churros, they are a must!

I've seen positive and negative reviews. All positive from me. Food was great and the service, excellent. My only issue was no air conditioning at 90 degree weather.
