I've been to the Pepe's in New Haven a million times, and I've been to several of their restaurants in other areas. I go to the Waterbury location from time to time because it's close and easy to get to. If I compare it to the others, this one is hands down the worst. One time it was great but all of the other times, I have to say it's just OK. Don't get me wrong, it's good pizza but it's not Pepe's great pizza. Oh, and don't get the garden salad, it's terrible.
Service was excellent! However the pizza was just ok. Nothing exceptional at all and far worse than I have eaten at the original location (which I have been to many times and never had a bad experience). The pizza here was thick and chewy and the crust was entirely black/burnt. I had to add a lot of toppings to enhance the flavor. I would not recommend this location.
Hate to go against the consensus- but the pizza was just okay. Considering that the price was nearly double a chain pizza- I’m not seeing the hype. It seemed pretty burned in spots- it was dry- had some flavor (mostly the pepperoni). But much better pizza can be had elsewhere in my opinion.
The pizza is really good, but it's not exactly the same as the original in New Haven.I find it really odd that they offer dessert, but they don't have coffee or tea to drink with it. There are no stars off for that because we go for the pizza, not dessert, Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I have been a Pepe's fan since I was a kid, and grew up going to the OG place on Wooster St. It has been awhile since I have gotten a proper New Haven apizza. Needless to say, Pepe's is still my Pizza gold standard. The team here did a great job!
I’m a truck driver from NJ. I stopped to get a pie for the first time from this place it was the absolute best. I thought I had real pizza till I tried this pizzeria. Fantastic people of course the pizza.
This is the only pepes location that I Iike. This one stays true to their original New Haven style, which even the New Haven location has deviated from in recent years.
