I've been eating at Le Relais Montmartre in Viré for about 8 years now, first as a tourist when I would come to do wine tasting in the area, and now that I'm lucky enough to live in the region, I try to go about...once a year. The chef was rewarded with a Michelin star a couple of years ago, and I think it was highly deserved, although sad that this means it's now harder to get a table (you have to reserve longer in advance) and of course, prices went up. This hotel and restaurant is a must do visit while in Burgundy. Although the southern Burgundy area is not as well known as the cote de nuits and de Beaune areas, it is truly worthwhile to spend a night at this hotel in Vire. 10...out of 10 in service, comfort, style and surroundings, the hotel has 9 rooms all with a different style from romantic country to modern but all with good taste. They offer bikes to cruise around the village and surrounding vineyards, a spa and of course the restaurant. The chef is amazing! My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant and stayed overnight in their small hotel. The village of Vire itself is beautiful, and the house (hotel and restaurant) nicely renovated and inviting. We were very disappointed in the dinner, however. We are frequent visitors...to Burgundy, and have tried a great many restaurants in the region. The food is incredible, mixing modern touches with traditional flavors with a perfect balance, the staff is both friendly and ultra professional, the place is both warm and originally furnished. Looking at the menu, and the sophistication of the ingredients prices are actually amazingly reasonable....The hotel rooms are all original and well furnished, and the area is simply enchanting. We're now regulars of the restaurant (it is very conveniently located near the A6 Autoroute), and the Chef's imagination and talent seem endless: his menus never disappoint, and his staff's execution has always been flawless.
make them ready, surprised taste wiser visit this restaurant. we sat outside on the sweet little terrace under the beautiful tree and ancient French street lights. starting with a cool glass white it was an amazing first night of our vacation! every cure saw as a small piece of art and tasted heavenly. my personal favorites the cheese at the end that almost melted like butter in her mouth and the chocolate dessert reminds me what is excellent terrace. friendly and relaxed service from the hostes helps to remember a night!
What a wonderful dining experience! The meal was exceptional such a pity that we were so full we couldn't do justice to the fabulous souffle at the end, though we tried our best. Highly recommend taking one of their gastronomique menus, which included several...amuse bouches and a delicious chef's surprise. Wines were also excellent. Service was impeccable.
When we went to family, we were delighted. A quality restaurant with impeccable service. Dinner and breakfast in a friendly atmosphere. We really recommend this warm place. Thank you.
