This was our first visit, and it certainly won't be our last! A great way to gauge an Italian restaurant is by trying the calamari as an appetizer, and this place definitely earned five stars. We didn't try it grilled, but maybe we'll go for that next time. Another personal favorite of mine is eggplant parmigiana, and it was served at the perfect temperature. The eggplant was thin, lightly breaded, and crispy, and it wasn't overly laden with cheese. The sauce was very tasty. As for the ravioli, the pistachio cream sauce was a bit too rich for my taste, but my husband really enjoyed it. Our dinner companion ordered the veal saltimbocca and declared it "the best!"
Gaia Italiano is authentic and a hidden gem of Berwyn. We have dined there on plenty of occasions with consistency on food and service. The quality of ingredients stands out for me with the familiarity of Italy freshness. What a fun and unique experience with the homemade pasta at the table side with the Parmesan wheel! Some of my favorites worth mentioning: Burrata appetizer, pappardelle bolognese and vitello saltimbocca . And of course a crafted cocktail called the Sicilian!
The service was wonderful and this restaurant is exceptional in how flexible they are regarding food preparation and making sure your cocktails are exactly how you like them, even remaking them if need be. One person in our party has a garlic allergy and they always do whatever to make sure the food is made to order. I love that they have started some specials. The octopus appetizer was excellent, although we were sorry the halibut special was sold out.

Sat at the bar for 50 minutes and had one drink with an empty glass for half the time. This place is understaffed. The bartender never stopped moving for a second, but also had 0 time for anyone sitting at the bar. Ordered an app, that they forgot about. Never even had a chance to put in an order or hear the specials. Maybe it was my own fault for sitting at the bar.
The food was excellent, and the customer service was equally impressive. I think this place is more suited for a date night or a small gathering. My five girlfriends and I were probably a bit too loud, laughing and enjoying ourselves. I hope we didn't disturb anyone nearby who was trying to have a quiet meal.
