We ended up at Gastof Simony after we first asked for a table at another restaurant but they were going to sit us at a table of 4 but with another couple! Luckily we didn't have this problem at Gasthof Simony and we walked straight in to a table for two right on the lake edge. The location was just perfect and so serene with the views and swans swimming by. The food was great. Me and my husband both had pork schnitzel with potatoes. The only downside was that the service was very slow! It took a long time to be asked what we wanted to order and for the bill. We paid 36 Euro in total for our food and drinks (not including tip). Rindergulasch, das lauwarm war, mit kaum essbaren Rindfleischstücken und Knödeln, die, obwohl sie in Scheiben geschnitten und flach waren, sicherlich vom Boden abgeprallt wären. Wow, Hallstatt ist alles in allem ein schrecklicher Ort, wenn es ums Essen geht. Ich würde vorschlagen, nur für einen Tag vorbeizuschauen und ein Lunchpaket mitzunehmen. Massive Abzocke.

We came in because the restaurant had a great outdoor space looking over the lake. The seating was perfect but the food was really disappointing. We knew the food wouldn't be great but the what they served were totally overpriced. We had 4 people having 4 main dishes and the bill was 125€. Prepare some food before arriving at Hallstat because you wouldnt have many choices.

Menu is the same as in other restaurant and I saw meals on plates of other customers so I presume they are fine. Service was awful. We waited many minutes and didn't get a table, just only looks from waiter, so we chose it by ourselves.Three tables who came after us, were able to order before us. Together we waited 15 minutes.Only one waiter for a full restaurant...
Price is too high for what they serve you, service is extremely slow. An umbrella fell on a person too. The waiter was more focused on fixing the umbrella than making sure the person was okay. Nice view is deceiving.
We had coffee in the garden mid morning. The view was amazing, and it was a great environment. It is a very old establishment, with the same family involved for hundreds of years.
Courteous staff, good food and lovely lakeside setting. Used this restaurant several times whilst staying in Hallsstatt and the standard was consistent.

Sitting next to the lake and having your dinner as Swans swim by... is just the ideal thing that we hoped for when we visited this place.
Usual type of restaurant in Hallstatt, offering the tourist menu. Service was good for us and overall experience was good.
