On a cold and windy midweek evening, when many of the city's pubs were empty, the fact that the large bar at the George was bustling speaks volumes about the pub. The diverse crowd gathered here indicates that this is a true local bar, and it's evident why it is so popular. The decor may be old-fashioned and has not been updated in quite some time, but somehow it fits perfectly in this setting. By keeping things as they are, the pub exudes a comforting atmosphere that patrons appreciate. This is a bar where people can relax and unwind, chat with friends, watch sports on TV, and enjoy quality beers and top-notch service. It embodies the essence of what a pub should be.
I am not certain which parts of the building date back to the 17th century, but the interior of the restaurant has a lot of character. The front of the building may be Georgian, with decorative moldings around the windows that have lost their original charm. We walked up from the seafront and enjoyed generous servings of chips and patties (mashed potato and onion cake). The George offers a selection of well-maintained beers, and the atmosphere at the bar was friendly. This restaurant is a good choice for a cozy lunch on a windy, rainy autumn day.
Recently visited the City for a gig and went for a stroll around several pubs late lunchtime/early afternoon. Out of the several we came across this one was the standout for me, a great selection of real ales, all kept well and at reasonable prices, The Abbeydale Bradfield Brewery options where particularly pleasing on the taste buds. Great old school pub, service with a smile.
Didn’t stay in this hotel, but just visited as part of a walk around Hull Old Town. The hotel has reputedly the smallest window in England. It really is a window and looks like a slit. You can even look through the window into the hotel. Not that you’ll see much unless you have outstanding eyesight. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I didn't have enough time to visit the pub itself, but I did see the Smallest Window in the World. Without the wall plaque, it might be easy to miss. It can be found on the wall to the left of the entrance on Land of Green Ginger street. Definitely worth a look.
Haven’t been in here for a long time. Saturday afternoon and fairly quiet. Lovely gin and tonic for my husband .The wine was ok but put me off as it was yellow. Tasted better but was ok. Wish I had the gin as tasted really good. Next time I think .
An impromptu crawl around the real ale bars of Hull however we (friend and I) ended up staying here because the atmosphere, the ale and most importantly the staff were amazing; notably Alan and Megan a credit to the establishment.

Loved showing our guests around Hull and had to show them this place. Took them in the George for a drink and showed them the smallest window. They loved it.
