Came here for dinner and read the sign that told you to turn on four ways for service and ask your server for a menu. We did this and was told there are no menus, just a board in the front. After ordering we asked...what sides were available or if they just have fries. Our server told us just fries. She was pretty rude and we decided to take our order to go. It was a bit over priced for the food quality. We ordered the curbside burger and a kids fish and chips. The burger was a complete mess. While the fish was set in a pool of grease, we had to press napkins on it to dry it off..Wouldn't try again.
Visiting from the UK was met in the parking lot by a woman barking at us because we had parked in the wrong spot. She was quite aggressive and I tried to explain it was an honest mistake. We let this go parked in the...right spot went into the restaurant only to be met with the same woman barking at her employees in front of the customers. Scared our children. I would not want to eat anywhere after witnessing her treatment of staff. We left a review in her Facebook page and she took the review section down. Clearly we hit a nerve. Not the way to conduct business if you wish to stay in business.
gillis drove at one point of one of the best diver in pei. with the change of property it must now be considered one of the worst. her once fantastic cheese burger with perfectly cooked frits and homemade gravy is now a...Bland, greasy chaos, with dose engraving and a price increase, the rival fine restaurants. the server are hit and miss when a girl was super friendly, while the next was very annoyed with us to make her to foot from the building to our car. They save their money and go somewhere else, because they probably couldn't eat the food they somehow bring.
Fries were smothered in gravy when I clearly did NOT ask for any and on top of that the fries weren't even fully cooked. Burger bun was a soggy mess and was basically none existant upon attempting to eat it and I must say the...curbside burger is nothing more than a non toasted bun barely big enough for 1 patty let alone 3, 3 patties, a pinch of shredded lettuce, 1 tomato slice and 1 slice of bacon and just enough cheese to say that there was some, very disappointing. So on top of getting my order wrong the food wasnt even good, will not be returning.
we visit the gillis drive in every summer on our trip to pei. the price is the same as a car ride through, but eating is so much better with large portions. we love to get objects that are not offered at home. Among the favorites are Fajita...Poutine, deep fried pickles and the mars bar. it's the one day we really broke out. have always been sitting inside, but they can be on their 4 wise flasher for auto hop service.
to eat overpriced for terrible quality. there for a cheeseburger plate and a pepsi and it came to $17. if the food was good, I would not have fought so much about the price, but it was so sub-par and pommes could have been cooked...as long as I heard that they got new owners, I wonder if this was the problem. do not define the restaurant I remember as a child. also go to a
they have to go back in time and try this 1950-60 trip in restaurant, I think the only left in possibly canada. great eating, cheap and delivered directly to their car. they can also eat in the building if they want.
Real good fish and fries. Going back next season for sure! Great menu selections. You might just see some very nice antique automobiles. Everyobe that goes there has memories to share with others for years.
It is always enjoyable to step back to the 1950's with car-hop service and also inside service. The menu is varied and always well prepared. The staff is friendly and welcoming.
