It's a Wetherspoons so some good low priced beers and (recently) ciders. Good quality pub food at good prices. Menu looks complicated but I can recommend the tuna mayo baguette and chips BUT order a side salad extra as there is not much salad in the main order.The pub is open plan so as it fills up the ambient noise level increases. The toilets are upstairs about 20 or so so that can be a problem. Some customers use the downstairs disabled toilet because they are too idle to climb the stairs.The main toilets are well kept. We have been visiting The Gold Balance for the past 6yrs, every Thursday night for the curry night, l think over this period we have missed about 6 weeks due to holidays. The food is good and Jed, the chef, is very good as is the staff, all very professional in what they do . We really do enjoy our evening out, apart from, the fact that you have taken off the sticky toffee pudding off the menu, we are devasted as we loved this sweet, please bring it back to the menu please confirm you are going to put it back onto the menu. Lack of staff. ..lack of options at the bar from what it states in the menu (for food ...wrong orders from staff and ordered food not being served thus resulting in asking for monies back. No authority or leadership I feel runs this money making part of the WSPNS chain..
Full of junkies and fighting. Used to be a lovely family place, wouldn't even take my friends here anymore, let alone my children!

An average drinking establishment with an average selection of ales. The carpet looks like it could do with a clean though.
Piping hot breakfast, lovely atmosphere ... friendly helpful staff especially Jane x will definitely come again
If you like JDs then this is a friendly atmospheric one to visit. The usual selection of great beer available!
Good pub food, probably one of the best whetherspoons for quality of food.
