The atmosphere inside is small, but it is nice and clean and a little dry. For dinner. I got the crabs Benny (cratt cake eggs Benedikt) with pancakes as my side and my friend got a salad. I also have a smoothie. While the portions weep a large size and the prices were quite standard, the food was quite average. I wouldn't say bad, but not great, and I probably wouldn't go back. The smoothie I 100% does not recommend. It should be bananas, blueberries and spinach. It tasted like pure orange juice and honest was pretty rough. I didn't touch it for $4. I primarily visited this restaurant because of the experienced servers and original owner. The food was decent enough to keep me coming back, but eventually became bland. I was not a fan of the bacon bits in their skillets, as I prefer real meat. The service was generally good, with a few exceptions. I would suggest replacing the chipped and falling apart plates as they are not up to health code standards. Unfortunately, the owners would not accommodate my gluten intolerance by providing a replacement for toast, simply suggesting I go without. Overall, while the restaurant has its drawbacks, it still has potential for improvement.
I had a craving for crab cakes the other day and decided to try the Crabby Benny breakfast special on a Sunday. The restaurant was quite busy, but the staff handled it well, stayed on top of things, and remained friendly. Despite its average appearance, the food at this diner is surprisingly fresh, flavorful, and creative. They have a few outdoor patio tables with shade, although they face the parking lot, so the view isn't great. However, it's a nice option if you want to enjoy the weather and have a quieter meal. Overall, you can't go wrong dining here.
I phoned to place an order for lunch, but no one answered the phone. I realized they were probably busy, so I decided to call back in a few minutes. Surprisingly, a minute later, a very kind lady from the restaurant called our office back because she noticed a missed call, and took our order. I have never experienced such excellent customer service from a restaurant before! The staff here are incredibly nice, and the food is truly delicious. They never fail to impress! I have wanted to come to check the Golden Grill out for a while now. The first couple of tries the parking lot was full, so I didn't get to try it. But today I went to lunch a little later, and it is Monday. I was excited today when I pulled up and lots of spots open. I ordered the lunch special was Fish and Chips with Chicken noodle soup. The chicken noodle soup was delicious big chunks of chicken. The Fish and Chips were yummy. My waitress was super awesome and friendly.
Such a hidden gem! My food was incredible and the service was amazing! The new owners even did a walk through the dining area and were so friendly! All around wonderful experience! We got a chance to talk to the chef and learned that the biscuits are made fresh each morning and that real time is put into the gravy, no quick mix here! The time and care put into the food isn’t just reserved for the biscuits and gravy, I have yet to have a meal there I didn’t love!
First time in Michigan at our daughter's new home in the area. This restaurant was discovered by her in-laws. Pleasantly surprised at the bright, clean environment. Selection was expansive for a small diner and quality of food was very good. Waitstaff very friendly and quick with coffee refills! Great price for simple food, good service, and a really nice atmosphere in an updated building. Typical plate was $7-8 and only a couple bucks more for some great coffee. The kid pancakes were fun too. Plus, the location on 11 Mile helps fill a demand for restaurants in this part of town. Give it a try.
