Visiting for an afternoon tea experience was very disappointing. The staff were very rude and dismissive, and showed next to no regard for the customers. We were dropped off at a table with no menu to order teas from, then when we asked for menus,...it was stated there were none. We asked to see a menu of what was included in the afternoon tea and were told they are “pre-prepared” and they can only cater for broad dietary requirements, rather than detail what is included in the afternoon tea. we booked afternoon tea for the mother's day. the venue is beautiful, but the disorganized and extremely slow service let us with a really bad experience. we sat and at this point should have seen the nearby Diners expressions in which we would wait long. our afternoon the tee finally turned hr mins after the first place. it was busy and the personal looked stressed, but limited communication really added to the overall bad experience, and the administration should have read the space and before communication that we wanted to wait a long time. the afternoon when he arrived was nice, but at this time we were all over hungry and fed by waiting. the only real apologies we received was from the...
we expected so much more of this experience, but what can I say was an experience and not a good or even half decent to say the least. the starters were tasteless and no side panels offered (prawn cocktail, no, where they place their used lemon slice or garnel). the main courses were moderate. the waitress asked if we wished cocktails that we answered with one yes, then we were left over half an hour and would have been longer, it was just because we were fed so and asked that the bill is in the position to go. a complete shambles for our engagement dinner. would not recommend we were only asked if at the end of the meal everything was in order to which we were given a response by sorry.
bitterly disappointed. expects a far superior culinary experience for the best part of eating was lukewarm best and the waiting personal inexperienced children, not in the position to pour a glass wein (we had to ask to taste the wein and if we recognized. it was suitable to serve the cap was returned and the bottle was handed over to serve itself) or serve (we had to serve for serving spoons for the vegetables). when querying the menu options due to a misinterpretation from what came with the court, we were faced with an aggressive response that was not estimated. the dining room was cold. would not recommend. will not come back.

We spent the afternoon in the Scotsman hotel. Firstly at the Scotsman picture house which is a real gem. Cocktail, popcorn and movie. We then made our way upstairs to the Grand Cafe for food. When I booked questions were dietary requirements which I replied...gluten free . Next question is this a celebration to which I replied a birthday treat. Not sure why I was asked this as it was apparent that this hasn’t been acted on. The service was fine. The staff was very young and inexperienced but they/we got by. The food was lovely but little choice for GF.
In the Grand Cafe the ambience is fabulous and the surroundings beautiful. We were served excellent Cocktails and Olives. The unhurried service for the food enhanced our stay and didn’t spoil the experience. The main course and desert were good. Staff were very friendly and...helpful with nothing being too much trouble we asked to be seated within upstairs balcony which is lovely.
When in Edinburgh treat yourself to a great meal in an elegant venue. The food was delicious and special thanks to the lovely ,smart and special young lady who is surely the best hostess/manager in Scotland, Aisha. We love you.
We had afternoon tea for people. There was a few hiccups which they were keen to resolve and this didn’t detract from our experience. Lovely venue

Gorgeous surroundings with a tempting cocktail menu. Other drinks are available! Friendly helpful staff and on occasions enjoyable live music!
