I'm calling it, Greek at the Belvedere has the best haloumi I've tasted in Sydney. This venue is a real inner city find, located above the Belvedere hotel you'd never guess a quaint little restaurant decorated in hues of blue and white straight from the Greek Islands.
This was my second visit here and both times have been thoroughly enjoyable dinners.
This time for starters we ordered:
Haloumi - it's juicy, yet crispy and just divine. Big generous slices perfectly seasoned and ready to eat piping hot.
Spanakopita - mmm gorgeous flaky pastry with spinach, leek, feta and dill.
Feta and oregano chips - I have to admit they were better last time purely...

Auf der mittleren Ebene im Belvedere-Hotel gilt das Grieche am Belvedere. Mit blauen Wänden und griechischer Musik, gepaart mit köstlichen authentischen Gerichten, ist es schwer, keine gute Zeit zu haben.

Wir bestellten während unseres Besuchs ein faires Gerichte, darunter die Saganaki, die langsame gekochte Lammschulter und die gewürzten Chips, die so lecker waren! Denn wir müssen unsere Zahlen ansehen, wir bestellten einen griechischen Salat, den wir auch hehe. Das langsame gekochte Lamm wurde gesalzen und zur Perfektion gekocht, so weich, dass es nur vom Knochen fiel, der immer drei Zecken in unseren Büchern ist!

A Greek restaurant above a none to fancy pub in an in-between part of the CBD. What could this be?
Well it turns out to be ok even though you they don't have any baclava on the menu.
The slow cooker lamb shoulder was the centrepiece plate for our table of four and it fed us with ease with plenty of tender and fall of the bone meat to share.
In support the Haloumi, a beetroot salad, dips and pita bread all made a solid contribution to the evening.
Service was great and the staff where clearly aiming to make a go of the place. Not sure how long it been open but I got the sense it was early days. The decor is neat and clean and ambience relaxing. If you're looking a mid price point eater...
On the middle level at the Belvedere Hotel is Greek at the Belvedere. Featuring blue walls and Greek music paired with delicious authentic dishes it’s hard not to have a good time.
We ordered a fair few dishes during our visit, including the saganaki, the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the seasoned chips that were so tasty! Just cause we have to watch our figures, we ordered a Greek salad too hehe. The slow cooked lamb was salted and cooked to perfection, so soft it just fell off the bone which is always three ticks in our books!
Once you're done with dinner, head down stairs for some DJ sounds and drinks or head upstairs to the rooftop bar for a night of drinks and banter with friends.
Awesome rooftop bar with outdoor smoking area. Rare find in the city, decent price drinks, however management and staff should pay attention to whats going on in their venue as we and several groups around us were approached by a canvasser collecting charity donations - very inappropriate. Other than that, good service, moderate wait times at the bar.
Not a bad option as far as CBD pubs go. There is a decent enough bar downstairs with mass-market Australian beers on tap but a good craft selection by the bottle. On the second floor is a small roof terrace although don’t expect the views to be particularly spectacular.

A great spot for a catch up with friends. It’s above a pub so it’s still got that pub atmosphere. It was really quiet as it’s still a new spot. Zucchini flowers are the best. Very authentic.
