The best of a bad choice on campus but I find the set-up really frustrating. People looking at menus standing at the counter, servers shouting to see who actually needs serving, ordering a pre-made salad and having to wait 20mins for someone to put it in a take-away box. Not ideal when I only have a 30min lunch break. The juices all seem to be pre-made in giant plastic bottles so not really 'fresh'. Salads are good though, but I think better coffee can be found at the kiosk by building 10, especially as the cup lids at grindhouse don't fit here so you end up pouring (too hot) coffee all over yourself. The food is consistently good, the coffee on the other hand is not. There are two great baristas - one who has left and the other, a young blonde guy. It really depends who is on the machine at the time. I get a coffee from Grindhouse most days and on a few occasions I have taken my coffee back to get them to remake it. Whilst they remake it, the second time around isn't any better if the same barista makes it. A colleague of mine got a mocha today made by the young male manager. Three of us in the office tried it and it was so burnt and undrinkable. Being an ECU student I couldn't be more thankful for opening of 'Grindhouse' finally there is a cafe to get a decent coffee...(awesome coffee) I really like the vibe and the layout of the place the 70 diner decor is also really fun! but to try some of the food until yesterday and boy I am glad I did. A few of my girlfriends and I dined in for lunch. I had the fat spaghetti was delicious my other girlfriend had mac n cheese, my other girlfriend happens to be gluten intolerant but thankfully there was heaps for her to choose from..we where all really happy with our meal...Although extremely full we couldn't ignore the smell of freshly baked muffins...AMAZING!! Expect better for the price, but end up consistently disappointed. Ordered a fresh juice with mint as one of the main ingredients - the mint was missing so the staff shoved a few whole leaves in my cup. Got a burger that was raw in the middle - the staff told me that it comes cooked medium (without even looking at the patty - which was not medium). Ein anderer lokaler von uns und wir lieben es. Dienen sind riesig und sehr günstig. Der Kaffee war großartig. Ich hatte den geräucherten Lachs, Apfel und Salsa Verde auf Roggen. Es waren Celish, Aromen waren großartig und liebten die Süße, die der Apfel dem Gericht gab. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder Zeit zurückkehren.
Another local of ours and we love it. Serves are huge and very reasonably priced. The coffee was great. I had the smoked salmon, apple and salsa verde on rye. It was delish, flavours were great and loved the sweetness the apple gave to the dish. We will definitely be back time and time again.
On Thursday afternoon, a great coffee at grindhouse for the first time, made by a colombian barista, his name was Andreas, with great latte art. Also great service by Lisa. I will be back again soon! Thanks guys :)
