This was our second visit at this restaurant and the food was really good the first time so we thought we would treat our family for dinner since they are from out of town and Salvadorian. We walked in and it was easy to see that the restaurant was not full, we were greeted by a server who told us that she could not serve us even though it was 2 hours from close because she was short staff and she hadn't taken orders from other people that had not been served. Wanted to try something different, so decided on Salvadorean Guanaquita in Kitchener. We arrived early in the dinner hour and the place was empty. We were greeted by the hostess and led to a large table for the 4 of us.The food was delivered in no time and we had a great time sharing and experiencing different tastes offered. After passing through a small door and going up these narrow stairs you come to a mid sized restaurant setting with a latin flavor for decor. The old Greek Parthenon on the wall has been covered over by a large El Salvadorian beach towel. The server was quick to come by and ask for our drink orders. He came by shortly after to take or orders. The kids had Loroco Papusas (there are many types to try) and fries. The Salvadorian beef enchiladas and Pork Papusas were my favorite but even the Chicken Tomale was good. Prices were reasonable and not inflated. My platter was $11.99. Papusas were $3.00 each. I had never heard of this place until my sister took me.The food was great and the service was good. The pupusas were great (although I have never had them before so I can't compare them to anything) and I loved the El Salvadorian Enchiladas.I have been back many times since. It is a great restaurant.
Met a friend there for dinner. Almost missed the restaurant as the sign and entrance didn't really stand out. I had the enchiladas and a mojito. Both delicious. The food came quickly as well.I would return...There is a dance floor and it looks like they might have dancing in the weekends.
Delicious food and a great value. We all had the guanaquita platter and were impressed with the food. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was good. Will definitely return!
Delicious Latin food. The best thing is that you can mix and match all the different dishes as much as you want - tamales, etc. The balcony is wonderful in the summer. I love this place!
This place is my new favourite. Great atmosphere, great staff and to die for flautas. The price is very reasonable and I can't wait until my next dinner at Guanaquita!
I really love this place, great food, fair prices, if you've never been get the platter if you have been a few times try something new.. Yuca makes a great app.
