The first time was amazing, the second time was great, the third time was fantastic. Yes we went three times in two weeks just because we couldnt try everything in one go! We personally loved the dumplings (the best and most flavoursome dumplings you will find), our favourite springrolls were the calamari, crab and shrimp.. so fresh and you can taste the individual flavours without being over powering .. the mains is very hard to pick, i loved the whole snapper (cooked to perfection, fell off the bone), my wife loved the pork hock (tender, delicate and sweet)... the food is all presented beautifully and there is nothing we would not order ag...
This restaurant is local, three minutes walk away and very busy! So booking necessary! We shared a selection of small bites.... Chicken and prawn spring rolls, calamari, crab, shrimp rolls and steamed prawn dumplings. We then selected an individual dish! Pho for two of us, crispy soft shell crab, rockling fillets and chicken coleslaw without the coriander for myself which I was assured would be served without the herb.... It did not come that way! This is a herb that for some reason my palate does not like. I didn't complain as my grand daughter who had ordered the soft crab found it was not to her liking and we swapped. everybody happy! Friends had told us to check out this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Have now been there twice and had takeaway. The menu has some interesting dishes. We loved the prawn dumplings and the grilled mince meat in betel leaves but the standout dish for us was the crispy whole baby snapper with ginger dressing. Delicious. Service was great. It's very popular so do book before hand. One minor gripe when ordering takeaway is that they say they'll ring when it's ready rather than giving an estimate of how long it will take. This means if you're 10 minutes away when you get the call your order can get cold.
This local restaurant came with some pretty good reviews. For me it did not deliver on a couple of fronts. We visited on a busy Wednesday, we were a table of six that backed onto the bar stools. It was like sitting in an aeroplane seat with a child behind you kicking the seat. There just wasn't enough room. The food was pretty ordinary. We had a couple of stir fries, the chicken curry was ...... Just not up to par. The ham hock was oversized and off putting. The flavour was lacking in most dishes. The staff tried hard to please. We did enjoy a lovely bottle of French Chablis.

I dont know what some of the reviewers are on about, Hanoi Mee delivered in every single way. Ive walked past a few times and noticed its busy so I booked our table which I recommend. The atmosphere was great, good vibes and love the Vietnamese paintings. The food was excellent. Every single dish was full of flavour, well portioned and cooked to perfection. There were many vegetarian options to choose from, the dishes had lovely presentation and the service was great. A welcome addition to Port Melbourne. Approx cost $50 per adult without alcohol. Will be back.
Heard some good things about this place, so we decided to give it a go. It was fully booked out again so we went with the takeaway. Chose prawn and vegetable stir fry and beef pho - absolutely fantastic! Portion sizes were a little small when it came to sharing, and it took quite a while to be prepared. So be ready to wait - I even ordered before the rush at 5:45pm. Overall, we will be back and booking a few days in advanced
Hanoi Mee is conveniently located in Rouse St Port Melbourne. Open for lunch on the weekends & dinner most nights it is a great place to have a nice casual lunch or dinner. Wine is well priced by the glass and plenty of beers to choose from. Favourite dishes are the pork hock, spring rolls, turmeric pancake and the unbeatable chicken wingettes. Definitely worth a try and a great local for the Port Melbourne crowd!
Back in the Ohio valley area to see the parental units and they asked if I like Barbecue and I'm like, mmm, yes !!!!

Looking at the other mediocre yelp reviews, I feel this place needs redemption! I went here tonight while traveling for work and it was excellent.
I was a little worried about writing a 3 star review, because a coworker has told me numerous times that everyone "loves" this place.
