We ordered delivery and got our food very quick. The bag was super hot and I had high hopes but unfortunately when eating I noticed a lot of the meat and vegetables were cold in the middle. This made me wonder if the food was just being reheated instead of cooked when ordered. The portion size was pretty big. We order the chicken corn soup which was very tasty. The beef chow main was good but this had many cold pieces of meat. The chicken fried rice was very bland. The string beans were also cold in the middle. The experience was mediocre at best. I was quite disappointed to find that the fried rice shared between two had only five tiny shrimp in it. It's frustrating when you consider that you could get a large bag of rice and a quarter pound of fresh shrimp for the same price. Additionally, the orange chicken sauce was overly sweet. The chicken itself resembled more of a fluffy cake batter than a crispy corn starch coating. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and the food arrived quickly.

Staff was so friendly and I saw our waitress being so kind and helpful to the table over that had a child struggling to choose what to order. If I lived in San Mateo this would definitely be my go-to but for now it will just have to be a place I visit when I'm in town. I hope to return soon!

The menu is VERY basic and the food was just ok. Hard to comprehend all the 5 star reviews. We are in the restaurant and also think that the Google description as a “trendy place with contemporary styling” is quite the stretch! It’s a local spot, with nice people running it but a bit gritty look and feel.
The food at Hot Wok Bistro is outstanding, and the service is superb. We visited as a group of eight, and the experience was fantastic. I wish I had more photos of the delicious dishes, but here’s a picture of the potstickers. They’re freshly made and absolutely delicious.
Food is pretty good, great welcoming and service. If you're very hungry, no worries, the portions are huge. The only thing I didn't feel like it was super fresh, was the tofu. It had a particular rancid flavor. Overall good price!
Such excellent food and fantastic service. We went as a group of eight people and it was wonderful. I wish I got more pictures of the amazing food but here is a picture of the potstickers. They are made fresh and they are amazing.

This charming mom-and-pop restaurant offers exceptionally delicious chicken fried rice and Mongolian chicken! The staff is polite, friendly, and welcoming. I've been fortunate enough to visit once a week for the past few months.
