I love this place! I live in New Brunswick but make sure to stop in and get some pies every time I visit my parents in Halifax. I have tried 4 pies and they have all been fantastic. They have all been so good that I can’t pick a favourite. The pastry is to die for. The crust has the perfect texture and the most wonderful flavor. It is flaky, buttery, and delicious . The Donair pie tastes just like Donair with just a slight hint of heat, the butter chicken is divine and the stroganoff pie is jam-packed full of thick steak with a tangy sauce. The mince n cheese is the only one I didn’t *love* but it’s only because there’s was a spice In It that I didn’t care for. It was still very good, though...
Have been meaning to try Humble Pie and being housebound was the perfect opportunity, since during the Covid 19 lockdown, they offer once a week contactless delivery. We order 4 different pies (butter chicken, steak and cheese, beef and bacon Strogonoff and chicken, brie and cranberry, and all were very tasty. I think that for us there was a clear favourite with the butter chicken, but we will order all of them again and try some of the other pies too. Instructions are good and worked perfectly, pies freeze nicely and it is so handy to have something in the freezer for the nights you don't want to cook. I was brought here, for lunch, by a coworker that said nothing but great things about it. I've driven by the building so many times on route to other eating establishments. It's a very simple concept, where they make large burger size meat pies that you eat like a hamburger. They have about ten pies to choose from, all for $10 with taxes in. We took our pies back to our shop and I was shocked how good they were. The other thing was that the girls, who I assume was the creator of the pies, was so energetic and had so much pride in her work. Very nice to see and you can taste her work.
We stumbled across HP while walking around downtown Dartmouth. You are greeted at the door entry by a pleasant lady who gives you a rundown of the pies offered. There are no sweet dessert pies however there's a great selection of savoury pies with an assortment of tasty ingredients. You cannot enter the shop she serves/sells pies through the front door entry. We noticed local tradespeople and workers visiting the pie shop. We grabbed a couple of pies ate them while continuing our walk. They were super tasty filling!
We got a hot tip to try this walk up stand a few blocks from the ferry terminal in Dartmouth (across from Halifax). Easy to get to and no line when we got there. We ordered the two most popular ones (according to the rep there): steak 'n ' cheese, and chicken, cranberry brie. Both pies were hot, flaky and delicious. But, they are very rich so if you are not used to that, you may not able to finish even a single pie. I wish we could have gotten one savory and one dessert pie, but alas, only savory sold here.
We came across this wonderful little hideaway store front in Dartmouth, NS, just by chance. Not a big place but wonderful, tasty savory pies. The aroma was amazing. We couldn't resist and split a chicken/cranberry/brie pie. Delicious! As we were visiting for only a couple hours, we couldn't bring back many of these unique pies Steak'n cheese, Beef stroganoff Bacon, Donair, Pulled Pork and many more. If you get the chance check this out. You won't be disappointed!
Today was my first time trying Humble Pie Kitchen. I ordered the Pulled pork, beef stroganoff, and steak and cheese. They were all really good, but that steak and cheese was f delicious. I can’t wait to get back and try a few more.
You can only understand how good this is until you enjoy for yourself. Buy pie. Eat ASAP. Repeat. The passion of the owner and employees is palpable.
