My husband and I went to Il Mercato to avoid the downtown construction and crowds. I think everyone had this idea as it was very busy, even for 8pm on a Saturday, but luckily we had a reservation so it wasn't an issue. This was our first time going in about 5 years and since the renovations. It is beautiful! Bright, classy and the new patio looks wonderful. We started with the Caesar salad and risotto croquettes. Both were delicious, but the croquettes are out of this world. I could have made a meal off a few orders and been just as happy. The Caesar salad was good, but nothing spectacular. I visited this restaurant on July 7, 2017. It was a most pleasant experience. The atmosphere was excellent (I would like to have had the background music a little lower in volume). The service was excellent and quick. The menu is extensive (Italian). Portions were more than adequate and preparation and presentation were impressive. My wine choice was also excellent. I do not travel to Nova Scotia often, but I highly recommend this restaurant, and will visit again upon returning to Nova Scotia.
Had lunch here with a friend in July. Very friendly staff. Cocktails an wine selection was very good and prices are fairly reasonable. Kid friendly and accommodating to food sensitivities. Portion sizes are questionable as the children's fish was massive but gluten free pasta was mediocre. Otherwise a very good experience
Had dinner there before flying out from Halifax. The restuarnt is a sister chain of the Bicycle Thief and El Mano. It is situated in a strip mall on second floor. Place is very modern and nicely decorated. Food was very good. Service was exceptional.
Had a very pleasant meal here as part of a date night. There was little delay in finding a table, although reservations are recommended. The service was attentive but not overbearing and he provided great recommendations. We will definitely return.

The food is exceptional. Service very friendly and attentive. The only downside is for seniors - lots of stairs to get to the restaurant. But who wants to rush!
