They serve wonderful food here and enjoyed dining here on my last night in Winnipeg. I ordered: Bison Spring roll; which was as simple as wrapping bison meat in a spring roll wrapper and fried. Bison is a very lean meat and I thought it would be jerky like...not so, the meat was tender and the crispiness of the wrapping made for a wonderful appetizer. For my main, I chose the crepe with shrimp and spinach with French onion soup as the side. Lots of delicious bite here and the French onion is the best I've had since my last trip to France (with my family). To top off my meal I had the lemon hazelnut tart with espresso, a perfect ending...the tartness of lemon and the coffee and chocolate note...
In Ferno had been recommended by locals. The outside seating looked very nice, but we had opted for inside. It was a cozy, haphazard interior of an old house, with basic Formica tables. The weather had turned very nice and they were slammed, plus down one server. Our server never made it to us, so the manager took over and did a great job. The menu was full of great, imaginative options, plus there were 3 appetizer and 8 entree specials. I had bison rolls with a dipping sauce for my starter. They were savory, and the sweet-and-sour like sauce had a real kick and was the perfect compliment. Delicious. I then had the broiled salmon special. Perfectly done and nicely presented. This place is not what it used to be. Went for lunch and ordered the lunch chicken crepe with soup. The soup was supposed to be broth based vegetables and chick peas. It arrived lukewarm; full of chick peas with one minuscule piece of carrot. The crepe was burnt and dried out on top and completely soggy on the bottom. Not very tasty. I sent it back and got the lunch salad instead. It was mediocre at best. Got my bill and was charged 3$ more for the change. Good service would equate minimally, the same price. Excellent service would be to take it off my bill totally. Won't be going back.
It was my husband's birthday and I wanted a special dining experience. I wasn't to be. The service was spotty to non existent, a forty five minute wait between courses, and the food just barely warm when it finally arrived. I had the stuffed chicken breast and it was difficult to find anything but a tiny smidge of cheese inside. The chicken was dry and flavorless, and covered with a cranberry sauce that tasted like it came straight out of a tin. A very dissapointing experience. Tonight, I dined with a group of eight people at this restaurant. The staff provided excellent service without making us feel rushed. The variety of wines available was perfect. Everyone in our group loved their meals. I want to give a special mention to Janelle, our main server, as well as the staff who continuously kept our water and bread replenished. If you visit this restaurant, I recommend sitting on the patio if the weather allows. The setting is absolutely beautiful.
I went to this restaurant with friends. Although we originally wanted to dine outside, the person who greeted us at the door recommended the upstairs service, which was indeed excellent. Our server, Carlie, provided attentive service throughout our meal. The food was all delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I appreciate that they do not list their menu because it changes frequently and features local, seasonal items.
Wonderful menu with so many yummy options. I had a great jalapeño margarita. We had the stuffed chicken and it was so moist and had a great sauce. My partner had the chocolate raspberry dessert with chocolate ganache. We are so glad we chose this restaurant for dinner. Next time we are in Winnipeg we will try either the Artic Char or the lamb shank! The service was really personable and attentive.
We began our meal with the steak tartare topped with a traditional egg yolk, which was expertly prepared (and raw). The tartare itself was not seasoned, but the plate was adorned with a variety of seasonings including small oblong toasts, salt, ground black pepper, diced onions, anchovies, capers, and a mustard with balsamic sauce drizzled on the plate. The dish was delightful and delicious.

To celebrate mom's birthday, a group of us went to Inferno's Bistro on Des Meurons for lunch a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't been there for a while so I was excited.
