Since Indian Orchid moved to a new location a few years ago they are within walking distance of our home. This year, during the pandemic, we have dined there a few times, and also had several meal deliveries during lockdown. A comment on dining in: during the August 'Eat Out ' promotion the restaurant was packed. They did observe the sanitizing, hand washing etc rules, but I thought the tables were as close together as before the pandemic, so we preferred take away meals after that. This was my first visit to The Indian Orchid Restaurant in North Finchley, we went with 2 other couples to celebrate valentines day and we were not disappointed. The staff assisted us in choosing our starters and main course and I was sincerely impressed with everything we tried. The food was really delicious and hands down, the best Indian food I've eaten in North London by far! All the staff were polite, friendly and caring and I look forward to going again in the near future. True value for money costing less than I expected especially when considering the bill also included the many pints of beer consumed by all during the evening. We came here to dine in ans celebrate a birthday. The starters were yummy especially the sheekh kebab. We also had the mix and wings , chilli tofu stuffed mushrooms. The food was well prepared and loved the spices. We also had some good cocktails made by Mr D. The mains were also good portions and tasty. We had panner tikka masala and dhal makhni with jeera rice. The fried mushrooms rice is a must to have as it was amazing when having with masala curry. The service was good. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend dine in.
The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and the staff is attentive. There is a great variety of vegetarian appetizers and main dishes. I recommend trying the chili crisp and peanut mix, as well as the daal bhajia. For mains, we enjoyed the Egg burjee and matar panner with mushroom fried rice, which were delicious. The portions were generous and satisfying. The restaurant was clean and social distancing measures were in place with staff wearing PPE. I definitely plan to return to try more items from the menu. Highly recommended.

The takeaway experience was disappointing. It seems like the quality may have declined, possibly due to Covid. We ordered our food and it was ready faster than expected, which was a red flag. The onion bhajis were very dark and almost burnt throughout, not crispy and seemed old. The Lachha Paratha was tough, possibly reheated. Overall, the flavors of the food were unimpressive. We do not plan on returning.
Phenomenal! This restaurant is hands down my favourite Indian restaurant in london. The staff are extremely caring and accommodating. The food is hands down the best Indian food I’ve had. The taste is so fresh and delicious! It’s our third time coming here and I’ve never had anything but a great experience.
What a brilliant restaurant, great atmosphere, fantastic food and absolutely great staff who go out of their way to look after all customers. Have had several celebrations here over the years and each one has been such a big success enjoyed by all! Thank to the entire team!
We’ve just eaten our take away from this restaurant and sadly we were extremely disappointed. The food was salty, my naan bread was dry, and the popadom was broken into tiny pieces. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant.

We booked on 3rd November to visit on 4th November hoping to avail the 20% discount on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as advertised on the window, but unfortunately, we did not receive it.
