Owning a business is tough everyone's a critic. I have gotten sushi twice with the new owners. The first time I was less than impressed, but I figured they were just having an off day. SushiLove is my favorite place for sushi! They offer a wide variety of all-vegan options, and everything is delicious and creatively crafted. We tried the Lobstrosity, the Don't Be Shellfish, and the Wasabi Jalapeño Roll. I also ordered a side of Inari, which was bursting with flavor. The service was fantastic, too—super friendly staff and a great atmosphere. You'll find their cart at the CORE PDX Food Pod, right next to a beer cart. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy some food and a drink on a sunny day, and they even welcome dogs! I ordered three different types of rolls through Uber Eats. Unfortunately, the wasabi jalapeño roll lacked flavor, the tiki tiki roll was dry, and the lobstrocity roll was just uninspiring. Additionally, I tipped the staff five dollars, but they still forgot my extra sauces. You’d think they’d be more attentive, especially after a tip. This might explain why the roll was so dry. I won't be ordering from here again. I should have listened to the vegan Portland YouTubers I follow who warned that this place wasn't great, but I wanted to give it a try myself.
Favorite place for getting sushi in PDX! Highly recommend eating here. Note from other reviews here: They had a little learning curve of getting the dishes right during the transition over to new ownership, which is expected! Those issue have been resolved and it is sad to see people decided to lash out at a small business rather than contacting them and letting Sushi Love either make it right or be aware of the issue. This was my favorite food in all PDX; I know it's a bold statement but it was true! I was so sad when it closed but today finally made my way to the re-opened spot. Sad to report the rice was over cooked and maybe old? It was clumpy and hard, the vegetables were hard, the wasabi was cheap tasting and hard (like when it's old). Literally spit out the food and discarded the remains. At best I would compare it to 7-11 on sale sushi. I am heartbroken and upset by this tragic purchase.
We were so sad when they closed last year BUT they've opened back up at CORE on SE 82nd with new management, and it's as good as ever. The Inari is like candy, and the lobstrosity is insanely delicious. All of it is 100% vegan and 100% terrific. CORE is a bit of a drive for us, but totally worth it. Great venue, with clean bathrooms, and a warm community vibe that I'm hoping adds more vegan options (it's a work in progress). Just order everything.
Waiting after 45 minutes when I left my order, I still do not have my sushi. On a slow Sunday when there was 1 order in front of me, I can't fathom why it would take this long. The employees working seemed to have no sense of urgency as they joked around and took their time with their backs turned to me. Located in a new foodcart area, I will definitely not be returning and telling others to give no love for the Sushi Love. Just awful.
So very happy to have Sushi Love back open thanks to the new owners Ryan and Amy. My favorites are the Don't Be Shellfish roll, the Starry Inari, and the Lobsterosity roll. I've been waiting a long time to get my hands on these healthy, flavorful vegan dishes again and they are exactly as I remember them! Fresh and delicious. Highly recommended! It was ok. I remember the cart being a lot better and went there 3-4 times over the years. The sushi was bland and the rice was mushy. For like $50 it wasn't worth it. I really liked the old cart and maybe it was just an off day (first time having it with the new owners) but I didn't really enjoy it this time
