We had a late lunch with our family after exploring the ruined castle in the morning. The food we ordered was decent, but we found the final bill to be a bit on the pricey side. The two soups we ordered for the children were tasty and reasonably priced. However, my wife and I were disappointed with the sharing platter we ordered for £12, as it only came with small portions of cheese, bread, chutney, and salad. While the food tasted good, we felt it was overpriced. The service was also lacking, and despite being the only customers in the restaurant, we didn't receive great service. Overall, we won't be in a hurry to return to this restaurant.
I went to this restaurant with two friends who ride motorcycles. We arrived a bit early and the owner noticed us, inviting us inside before they officially opened. We enjoyed a delicious traditional breakfast that consisted of real coffee served in French presses, locally sourced sausages and bacon, thick slices of crusty toast, and a very warm welcome. This dining experience was definitely worth the journey from North Wales.
I went to the post office to send of some mail and the post mistress was kind and helpful. She offered me a drink while I waited in the shop as the weather was bad and I didn’t have to pay for it! I have visited this cafe many times and it’s a go to for me. I would definitely recommend if you are after a friendly chat and nice food! If you speak Welsh even better as the owner is always up for a conversation in Welsh!
After finding our regular tea shop in Montgomery closed, we decided to give Ivy House a try. We were greeted with polite and friendly service, and we were able to enjoy delicious refreshments while maintaining social distance. This wonderful combination of a Post Office and tea shop definitely deserves all the support it can get.
I had the most amazing cake at the ivy house, there was a great choice available. They did serve a lot of other food but we just went for the cake. The decor is a little dated and it’s quite cluttered with things for sale, I really like it but I can imagine it’s a bit too rustic charm for some. I would visit again.
The outside didn't lead us to expect a great deal, and an empty cafe at lunchtime boded ill, but what a lovely surprise. Super friendly staff, the best soup I have had in ages, and a wonderfully fresh and tasty prawn sandwich as well. We couldn't have been more pleased.
8 of us and 2 dogs visited this cafe today 2/12/19. Such a lovely welcome and great service. The breakfast was great and the hospitality second to none. We are back for Christmas and will definitely pay you another visit. Montgomery is a lovely little village.
Lovely welcome, good homemade cake, proper pot of tea, lovely jacket spud and salad. Dog got treats too. Homely and good value. Just what we needed after long, cold walk. Really friendly staff.
Will not be back, service was terrible with a rude waitress. Hair and dust everywhere, and disgusting food. Will NOT be back.
