Was stopped in Hawthorne for work and decided to try this place out. It started with our drinks. My wife and I ordered margaritas and was asked what kind of tequila we would like? We ask what do you have for silver and get told all the have for silver was Bacardi. Now the waitress was pretty young so we just kinda laughed it off and told her that 's rum. Then the 3 of us ordered appetizers to share. Quesadilla was OK the nachos were horrible. They came out with blobs of canned nacho cheese that they didn 't heat up and was cold to the touch. Told the waitress about it and all we get is a hmmmm I 'm sorry and she walks off. Had another gal come to take our plates away and asked how everything...
I will give this restaurant another chance. During the summer, I drove from Portland to Las Vegas and stayed nearby for the night. I was hoping for a lively atmosphere, but it was clear that I was not a local. We didn't receive much attention. We were seated far from the bar, and no one seemed to notice us. We were served warm beer, which was unexpected during the summer. It was a Blue Moon, and I thought it was on tap, so something must have been off. Despite this, the food and service for the burger were good. I hope on my next visit, the beer will be cold, and all customers are treated with the same energy as those sitting at the bar.
My father used to be a loyal customer back in the 1950s when Joe senior owned the restaurant. I visited recently out of nostalgia, and it brought back memories of the El Capitan. In those days, the mayor of Hawthorne, known as Birdlegs Kreider, operated a small pawnshop in one corner of the bar. Those were the good old days!
I can't say enough about Joe's Tavern - it is one of the friendliest places I have been to in a while. The service was excellent, especially the server that I can't remember the name of at the moment. She truly deserves a raise, she has such a beautiful soul.

I participated in The Kenny Bostic Memorial arm wrestling tournament and had a great experience. The food was good, the drinks were excellent, and the people were fantastic! Can't wait for next year! ????????????????
The staff at this restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The bartender, Riley, is a great guy. My colleagues and I dined here for 4 or 5 days in a row and thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
This is by far the best fish and shrimp I have ever had from a restaurant. My apologies to anyone who missed out! Absolutely delicious!
