This was our fourth visit to John’s House. Previously all dining experiences and service had exceeded expectations. On this visit we sampled the five course menu. The food was very good. Unfortunately the service we received was not. We ordered the pre-desert, one portion of which arrived in a dish which had clearly been been broken in several places and repaired. Thinking that this must have been an oversight we brought to the attention of one of the waiting staff, who informed us that the crockery was bespoke and that with a commitment to sustainability or similar that an expensive form of adhesive had been used to repair the bowl. My wife and I selected John's House for our special Christmas celebration, and it was a mix of exceptional highlights and some letdowns. The Michelin-starred culinary journey was definitely the highlight of our visit. The chef's dishes were truly spectacular, showcasing culinary mastery and artistry. The sommelier's wine pairings enhanced the dining experience beautifully. Fabulous experience from the moment we arrived in the afternoon. We were shown to our room, across the road from the restaurant. Lady who showed us to the room was great, really welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was more of a cottage. Kitchen, lounge and upstairs a bedroom and bathroom with shower. Excellent in every way. The fridge was stocked with wine and there was also a cocktail cupboard in the lounge very thoughtfully done. At a cost of course for anything you had. We recently returned to this restaurant and decided to stay overnight in the cottages. We were truly impressed by the entire experience. The staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and friendly. They were a valuable asset to the business and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The accommodation was lovely with thoughtful touches such as fresh bread, chocolates, coffee, eggs, and wine. The bathroom had quality cosmetics and the furnishings and design were authentic. This was our third visit to John’s House. The service is warm and welcoming and unpretentious. Pre food drinks were spectacular especially the breakfast Martini and the Rhubarb sour and the Negroni. A lime and soda made from fresh limes was excellent. The 5 course tasting menu was playful but special. Every course was a delight especially the Bradgate Venison. Pedro’s personality and wine choices enhanced the whole experience. We will be back again soon
I absolutely enjoyed dining at John's house. The food was Michelin-quality, the ambiance was relaxing, and the service was lovely. While all the appetizers were delicious, I was disappointed by three of the dishes that were served. The staff seemed surprised by my reaction. Despite this, I still had a good time, though the food did not quite live up to the amazing standards I have experienced at this restaurant in the past.
Lovely night at Johns House. We had waited a few months to get a booking so were very happy and there was a lot of anticipation. We did the 5 course tasting menu and everything was excellent. Can’t speak highly enough of the food, the theatre and the service. Our servers Gracie and Stella were excellent. We will most certainly be back
Absolutely delicious. Warm, cozy and delicious. We had the five course meal with the carrot sorbet add on (absolutely say yes to the sorbet). Cocktails were yummy, food was well plated and balanced. I am so glad we came.
Perfect Food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere .We had a fabulous lunch with friends.It surpassed expectations and is right up there with the very best. Fabulous
