The restaurants on Rowe street have gone through many changes through the years but Jonga Jip has not only managed to survive but have consistently been the most popular restaurant by far. The quality of food however, has definitely declined. First off, the quality of meat has degraded. On numerous occasions I have had their new wagyu platter and some of the old cuts but all were extremely tough and definitely not fresh. Their prices have also steepened quite alot through the years. We’ve always come here for Korean BBQ because the food is good. However lately it’s going downhill. Our last experience was not good, and today was worse. Full house, but short-staffed. Waiter noted our order wrong, he seemed new. We ordered beef ribs, and they came with pork ribs. The one that took our order came to our table and asked if we ordered pork ribs, and I said, no, we ordered beef. The beef ribs finally came, looking weird and partially frozen. Go elsewhere Loud techno music , will squeeze you in to a tight 4 seater table with 6 people. Literally dump the whole tray of meat and other food onto you and let you sort yourself out. They would prefer not to refill your Bachan. Our 3 soju never came and one of the food was also wrong. We literally had to lift our meat tray in order to ring the bell for service and if you wave at them pretended not to acknowledge. I've never had Korean BBQ before this, so I can't compare, but overall very good food and fast service, would recommend. The spicy marinated chicken in particular was excellent, and the hot pots smelt amazing.
