Booked ahead of a stay in Chester after searching for the best restaurants. The only availability was two stools in the window but I’m so glad we took them as it provided a great spot for people watching. We just had some olives to start and they were amazing (a Spanish queen olive called Gordal). We shared the paella for main which is made fresh to order. It was really very good, washed down with a French gin called G’vine which was new to me (and I have tried a lot of gin). I was impressed that the G&T was served in a small glass rather than the huge stemmed glasses which drip condensation due to the massive amount of ice. chester has and will always be one of my favorite cities in Britain. Surrounded by a beautiful 2 (and a bit) mile stretch of the Roman walls, chester mixes the old and contemporary effortlessly. Luckily chester has also upping in recent years it is game in culinary inserts to fit it stunning aesthetics, and after visiting two (sticky walnut and Chef’s table) of the holy trio chester restaurants in the last 12 months I decided it was about time that I visited the 3rd in joseph benjamin.
After an 'enforced ' absence of three years it was so good to be back at JBs for Sunday lunch today and, oh boy, what a lunch! Couldn 't find one thing to fault our visit from the warm welcome we received to the perfect beef and the sky high Yorkshire puds. It was soooo good to be back. It certainly won 't be as long as three years before I/we return again.
sautéed white pudding and girolle mushrooms – living in the northwest, many menus have bury black pudding, but it is a rare tasty bite to see white pudding on a menu (although I prefer the spicier ho pudding.) I loved this dish; it was tasty and well cooked with loads of girolles and good love to detail with a tiny cube tomaten.

fabulous imaginatives eating and a relaxed but vibrant ambiente. beautiful staff..receptive, but not transferred. this beautiful little restaurant can not evaluate high enough, it is always at the top of our favorite list.

my favourite place to eat in chester. the ambiente is great, eating is amazing and the personal is always beautiful. can't get back high enough
A superb place, we only stopped of for a brew and a quick bacon buttie lunch snack and was great The place is modern and staff are friendly.
