We recently had a horrible experience at Joya. Two of us ordered a simple small meal and two drinks shortly after arriving at the restaurant. 40 minutes later we still hadn't received our drinks! It was only when I reminded the waitress about our order that we got our drinks. We then proceeded to wait 50 more minutes for our dinner. I can't believe that we waited an hour and a half for two people. At this time, the restaurant was still only half full. The waitress was pretty much non-existent for our meal and seemed pre-occupied with filling take-out orders. Joya Japanese/Korean Food .. Have eaten there twice now since opening. Their Staff and service courteous, friendly and attentive but not to the point of 'bothering' you during your meal.We have had a variety of dishes now - suski salmon, tuna and shrimp very fresh, not rubbery tasting. Tempura amazing, so fresh and hot when brought to your table. Miso soup and green salad very tasty. We had curry beef dish today and last time beef bulgogi also Dynamite Dragon Roll, Edamame, and dumplings. I'm quite convinced anything you order will be delicious and piping hot when brought to you as I previously stated. Sadly we are not in town much longer and only found out they opened in downtown Milton recently. We have tried every sushi place in town since our favourite place closed a 5 years ago. Nothing had come even close to what Steve used to produce. Well, we have found that place! When it comes to excellent quality of sushi fresh is king! In town there are 2 shops that are All You Can Eat, they will not be visited by us again! You cannot get quality fish and consistency from an AYCE place. I am excited to be moving closer to where their Hamilton location is, but will be back to Milton to experience their Special Menu! This is the best sushi place in town and hoping it is found by everyone :)
Driving through Milton one Saturday evening, we decided to have dinner there.Walking along Main St. ,we were attracted to a new restaurant which had an appealing openness about it... so, we found Joya, a hidden gem!We were welcomed by a friendly and courteous staff.Their menu has a very large variety of Japanese and Korean food items.We had a hard time deciding what to choose but they were very flexible adjusting to our individual requests. We had the Tempura appetizer. Salmon teriyaki, and the Shrimp teriyaki. The food was phenomenal- generous portions and very fresh. The sauces, delicious, being not too sweet or salty. A family owned restaurant that has taken over the spot of a previous Mediterranean restaurant. My visit was for a business function in the upstairs area that had been arranged by the previous owners as a room for functions. The food was typical for standard Japanese-Korean fare. There was nothing special about the noodle dishes or the basic assortment of sushi for the business event. However, service was very pleasant and attentive. Hopefully, I will get a chance in the neat future to visit them on their main dining room for their regular service.
For me, it's always nice to be in a restaruant that makes me feel comfy when dining solo. Joya's never been busy when I have arrived between 11:30am and noon. My favorite spot next to the kitchen is always available and the waitresses know that I love my green tea and miso soup. The sushi and maki lunch specials never dissappoint and the sushi pizza I had once was very filling. I definately recommend this place for a nice quiet sushi lunch.
Portions are huge, food is excellent! I had the calamari to start and tempura udon....very good. My mother in law had the Salmon Teriyaki and raved! My only complaint is the food was too hot and took a while for it to cool down :)

Tasty lunch with friends. New menu at the time. Variety to chose from and friendly service. Small but comfortable. I will definately return. Maybe for dinner this time.
