The staff claimed it was all due to NSW lockout laws, if that was the case I can see why this is slowly killing Sydney nightlife, in Kings Cross anyway. It was 10pm Saturday night, the pub was dead, just like the rest of Kings Cross. The three of us not only had to present ID at front door, but also presented ID to a second staff, stood in front of a camera, looked straight into it and had our photos taken. As the cross seems to be falling apart, the Kings Cross Hotel has been stepping up it's game to draw people in. I've been going there on and off over the past ten years but recently have noticed a change in the vibe there. The customer service is excellent and not just by one or two of the staff but the lot. The employees seem to really enjoy being there (good job management!) and that flows on to the service. Drinks are reasonably priced with some really good beers and ciders on tap and the food is also quite good. It's certainly a worthy choice for lunch or dinner.
Overprice average pub food. Ambience was nice but you go to a pub and pay $22 for a Parma, you at least expect to get ham... not a small bit of chicken with cheese. Salad that came with was also very ordinary. Won't return.

I visited kings cross hotel about a year ago and was content with my visit. The menu selection was not as diverse as I'd hoped for but the general ambience was nice. A good location, in the heart of Kings Cross, Sydney.
Good food and affordable drinks. I had a Chicken Schnitzel burger and it was delicious with a side salad. I would definitely go back with workmates for a midday feed.
Nice pub and great Buttermilk Chicken burger.. recommend the gravy with chips :) but a great spot to catch up with some mates or a casual business meeting
It was my last night in Sydney and of course, I couldn't leave one of the world's best cities without hitting up a rooftop bar.

Decent atmosphere for a pub in the Cross, although I don't usually go during terrorist season (Fri/Sat night).
