I’ve been here twice before, and it’s really gone downhill. Service was slow our ramen took nearly 45min, and somehow a table seated after us got their food before we did. Ramen doesn’t take more than 10min to make and serve. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed by the amount of Uber/Skip orders they had to fill. After finally getting our food, it was honestly just disappointing. The noodles were a bit overcooked, the broth was practically tepid, the individual toppings themselves were not very satisfying and the chashu was practically inedible from how old, overcooked, and rubbery it was. The broth flavour was okay, but there really wasn’t any substantial depth to the flavour either. There w...

Ordering the main dishes was a breeze. You get to build your own soup starting with your broth base (options include pork, chicken, vegetable, or no broth), then you choose your protein, followed by your desired spice level (ranging from mild to very spicy), with the option to add extra ingredients. Their spice level chart is spot on. Our group of four tried each other's soups, and I can confidently say that you can't go wrong with any choice—everything was absolutely delicious. In the first photo, you’ll see the Vegetable Gyoza. At first, we thought $9.50 was a bit pricey for the portion size... until we tasted them. These are hands down the best dumplings we've ever had. Seriously, you mu...

The noodles were particularly underwhelming. Given that this place is located in or near Chinatown, I would expect to find some quality straight noodles with a nice chewy texture. Instead, they opted for standard thin, squiggly yellow ramen noodles. It feels like they chose noodles simply because they are labeled as ramen, rather than sourcing the best type of noodle for their dish, whether that might be a Chinese egg noodle or something else. Honestly, I don’t think it should even be called Hakata tonkotsu; it feels misleading or suggests a lack of understanding of what authentic Hakata tonkotsu is meant to be. The toppings were somewhat excessive but decent overall. Overall, I would rat...

I visited Ichiko Ramen last night, having only sampled ramen at all-you-can-eat sushi places around the city before. I didn’t realize how much I was missing out! “Their rebranding is fantastic!” exclaimed my friend, who has been to Ginza and tried Ichiko Ramen for the first time alongside me. “When you walk in, it feels like you’ve been transported to a traditional ramen shop, just like in the movies.” The food itself is exceptional. Their signature broth, made with pork belly and a spicy kick, is absolutely mouthwatering. For dessert, I tried some mochi ice cream and was very impressed. I opted for the classic vanilla and chocolate flavors, so that I—or anyone else who may not have much (or... Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Been dying to try Koichi for a while now, so we got up early and made sure to be there before they got busy (which didn't take long! I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen with some veggie gyozas to start and to say it was enjoyable is an understatement. The broth (I got pork medium?️ , the noodles, the veggies... I can't believe I hadn't come here sooner. Creamy but not too thick, flavorful, aromatic, juicy.. My friend and I are already talking about coming back, and we were there a week ago. If you haven't been to Koichi Ramen and you've lived in Ottawa for longer than 24 hours, what are you doing?!

I don’t even know how to preface this review. I’ll just cut straight to the point:Room-temperature broth, soggy noodles, fried-to-death pork that was practically bacon (not to be dramatic but I spat it back out), and a 45-minute wait. Both the broth and the toppings were bland. To note, the takoyaki was nice. There’s nothing left to say other than I won’t be coming back. It’s unfortunate because I love supporting local businesses but I think I’ll be taking my money to Sansotei instead.

A friend of mine ordered the Tonkotsu while we were in class, decided to give it a try and it was absolutely phenomenal! Noodles were cooked to perfection and the pork was incredible. You get what you pay for the one bowl managed to fill us both up. Only thing I recommend to check for is spice level. If you think you are good with spice, think again because we got mild and it had a bit of kick to it even with that. Nonetheless I would order again any day!

The ramen here was absolutely fantastic! It was the only ramen spot we tried in Ottawa, and it surpassed most of the places in Toronto. The black garlic tonkotsu ramen was thick and spicy, just as it should be. The only downside was the electronic music playing from the kitchen, which dampened the atmosphere a bit. Overall, though, it's a really great ramen spot! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

The Tonkotsu ramen was fantastic, even delivered. Don’t be fooled by the picture, it came looking exactly like in the photos. Broth was fresh, spicy, and the pork was cooked to perfection. Koichi is officially my go-to ramen spot.
