After a fantastic vegan banquet on Valentine's Day a couple of years ago, we returned on Friday night for dinner before catching some bands in Fitzroy. Since our last visit my wife has been diagnosed with Coeliac disease, and we were happy to see that a lot of the vegan options were also marked gluten free (GF). However upon my wife mentioning she was Coeliac, the waiter was quick to inform us that some items are cooked in the same oil and those containing gluten, so cross contamination was an issue. It used to be a bank and has maintained much of the original structure but the interior is complemented by smooth wood and glass fixtures and vintage-looking light fixtures and shadowboxes of plants and panels of Japanese-inspired art.<br/ <br/ The menu is also 'Japanese-inspired ' but not totally traditional, with options like miso ice cream in a fried bao and cheesy ramen gnocchi. The former was okay in composition but the ice cream alone was great and tasted like buttermilk. The latter was rich but a really cool concept that packed tons of flavour and texture. that was by far one of the most beautiful Japanese meals I had in melbourne. the interieur was spectacular, busy with people, perfect temp and spacious, but happy busy, and eating so incredibly fresh, tasty and authentic. generous portions for an upscale kitchen and somewhat more expensive price. normal or maybe wait a little longer for food, but absolutely worth it. would have loved the Entrees main to come more separate to enjoy them individually, instead served rice with entrees etc., but still enjoyed every single moment! thanks kumo. vegetarian options: perfect for vegetarian, same meat-to-vege ratio on the menu. Warm and friendly greeting, with very attentive and responsive servers. As soon as a plate was finished, it was promptly swiftly cleared.The presentation couldn't be more beautiful, with fresh and flavourful produce to match. I love the array of entree sized options, that can be tasted but not overindulged in.The recommendation of sake was perfect, pairing quite nicely with the food and expectations of the night.

while not with a million vegan option, what they have is really high quality and really tasty and was more than enough for two vegos and a omni (which had an additional meat dish) as a birthday party for my mother and it really lived up to the expectations!

The sushi at this restaurant is amazing and the friendly waitress is very knowledgeable. The dishes were delicious and the service was outstanding.
