The setting is in Old Government House in Parramatta Park west of Sydney a 20 minute walk from Parramatta station (limited restricted parking on site). We used a Cudo voucher ($99) for 2 people for the 4 course Trust the Chef menu incl a glass a champs. You don't know what you will get which is great fun. We dined on Sunday for lunch. The food was high quality and 3 courses were vegetarian + desert. We thought a meat/chicken course was needed but by the end of the meal we were happy without it. High Tea in the middle of Parramatta Park in the Old Government House, what a beautiful way to enjoy a few hours relaxing over cups of tea, dainty savoury tarts, lovely fresh sandwiches, beautifully made scones with jam and cream, miniature cheesecake + lemon meringue pie, macaron and just to tip us right over the edge a lovely fresh chocolate dipped strawberry! Although the service was adequate and the location superb, Lachlan's misses an opportunity to build a menu and guest experience on its unique location. There must be many colonial menus and recipes that could be adapted for contemporary dining. 8 Governor's used this residence, entertained guests and had a large scullery with its own farm and kitchen garden and the National Trust has extensive archives. I opted for a ploughman's lunch and had a strange interpretation of this classic dish, which included a slice of orange, topped by a slice of kiwi fruit and garnished with half a dozen grapes. Recently attended a reception in the Marquee. It was a cold night and although the area was warm on arrival that soon changed. There was a constant cold draft. Due to health problems I have to have a vegan diet. The food presented to me was terrible! My main course was what they called vegetable soup. Hot water with a few bits of over cooked zucchini and far too much chilli and pepper. I just couldn't eat it.
I was offered nothing for desert. I was charged the same price as everyone else and we booked our table at the same time as everyone else so the caterers has about 2 months to organise food.
I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Service was bad.

What do my parent's get me as a present for my birthday? Dinner out I said. They organised for the four of us to come here to Lachlan's. We did the Trust the Chef menu and thoroughly enjoyed the whole 4 courses + champagne + tea/coffee and chocolates. We had an early sitting, there was plenty of parking (even later when we came out), the atmosphere was lovely.The food was quality and delicious. Philip the waiter is such a lovely person, very professional yet personable. We all had such a great evening. Will be back again!
Got a voucher for a set menu lunch for 6 people. Arrived and were seated outside along the walkway but as the day was beautiful it was a lovely spot. Staff were instantly attentive and took photos for us etc. We had a "trust the chef" menu that was divine . Every course got better and better. The food was outstanding . I couldn't fault anything (trust me I'm a fussy customer!) I loved the whole experience and am very happy to highly recommend. I will be back for more!!!
my family and I had high tea at Old Government House recently. It was sensational - best food and service. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and the variety and quality of food& beverages (champagne, tea, coffee) served was great. There was ample parking and indoor and outdoor seating. I really lovely setting - terrific atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit - especially for the scones!
This period building offers fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful food, (we chose "trust the chef" lunch) and were not disappointed! Friendly staff and just a lovely occasion. 15 mins. walk from Parramatta station, and while we were there, we took a guided tour through Old Government house which was very enjoyable and informative. A great day!

I had my wedding in the Marquee at Lachlans and was so impressed with the food and service. Absolutely delicious everything I ate. The waiters were attentive and delightful. The historical location provides the backdrop for an ambient lunch or dinner and I cannot wait to go back here again.
I was given a voucher for high tea. I was amazed how much there was to eat and the beautiful teas were delightful. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon.
