As this was our first evening in Calvi, we decided to go along to the sea front to find a restaurant, and came across a long line of them, of which Le Bato Ivre was one. We took a nice table outside at the front...overlooking the harbour and out of the cool breeze. We ordered our meal (from the Menu Corse a tourist set menu of local dishes at a fixed price) in French naturally, being reasonably competent in the language, but our waiter decided we would all speak English. I ordered the smoked charcuterie, followed by the veal with olives and pasta, and a caramel flan for dessert. we ate at this restaurant. last week unfortunately....even off season the waiter could not keep up with his work...so I think it was the owner that came and took our order eventually...after 30 minutes of waiting...then he argued with me as i ordered my entrecote...bien cuite........he told me (as he thought i was a holiday maker once he heard my accent...... that i should eat the steak as it would be cooked by them....result it was freezing cold.and completely undercooked although I have no problem with seignante.....and i would have liked mustard and salt and pepper...service here is awful.............they just don;t care about their customers..........the chips were lovely though.....only...
My husband and I had our evening meal here on two separate occasions recently and couldn't fault them. Despite being towards the end of the season it was still fairly busy and surprisingly the chunky plastic chairs are very comfortable! The service was friendly and...quick, the food (one evening we had Moules and another the set menu at 17.50 euros for three courses) was fabulous and the red wine at 8 euros for a half carafe was pleasant. The restaurant is situated harbour side which is a bonus and the toilet inside I thought was quite modern. All in all well worth a visit.
really terrible. I'm sorry I was wasting time and money on such a place. the waitress is very unfriendly, her back itches and she can't smile. the foods are tasteless, the salat has a worm, the tomatoes are not fresh, the pizza seems improvised. dirty, cute, stained dishes. a disgusting place. the waiting period is very long and there is no reward when they finally see you. the chef is unpleasant when I went to the bathroom, I saw him smoking in the kitchen and he is wrongly aligned. in short, never again in our lives, we will step back to this place.

the service was very nice. the waitress was a beautiful young lady. that was terrible. I have never written an evaluation about any restaurant, but that was just the worst. the fish soup was terrible. after the harder we got our muddles, they weren't... as they were chewed before. the others were closed. our fries were flat and there was no sauce on the table. the wee was very nice. but overall I would never recommend this restaurant.
we stayed in the week in 5 for lunch, the restaurant was empty, but they worked slowly and rude. they took 30 min to bring us water, and 1 hour for the first plate; the waiter was really rude, eating really poor, wetare. full salat and a small piece of fish, never again
we had just left the train from bastia and were hungry - that was one of the next restaurants, it was pretty busy so we sat down. eating was actually very good as the service; overall good value also, especially the carafe recommended by...wine.
We stumbled across this restaurant this evening and what a lovely surprise... food was excellent, especially the fish dishes. The staff were warm and welcoming and I would highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

The food and service poor, do yourselves a favour and take your business elsewhere. The location tends to draw you to the area, but there is better value and quality of food in the neighbour restaurant.
