In a soul-less street not far from Francois Premier square and close to the tourist office , the restaurant was a pleasant quite modern place with a homely feel. We fancied the sound of the 2 course "formule" of a starter buffet plus main course...was it Eur 12.5 or Eur 14 ...anyway not expensive.......Was it any good ? YES ! Starter buffet had a wide choice of the usual crudites , plus Charentais melon and jambon cru etc .. very nice, a volonte too (we were upstairs and had to go down again to get to the buffet ).Mains taken were hake and lovely steak frites...both well garnished ( eg hake came with a lovely little casserole dish of ratatouille ). Seemed to be a family run place and it was...
a small restaurant with a charming welcome where you can enjoy the flavor of the dishes and their quantity (even not a place for dessert for big eaters like us) or almost for a gourmet coffee as rich as the dishes. I recommend lamb mice and veal paved (ideally rosé cooked) but above all the excellent and always copyful slice of foie gras and especially accompanying it with white wine of mellow gascogne mellow area of round steared joy in the mouth and fruity and ending with notes of lick.
