The location is great, right on the beach, with a beautiful view of the sunset. If you are interested in a place to sit and be ignored, this place would do nicely. We were interested in dining, though, and the service from our first waiter was so bad, it went beyond annoying and became farce. We were finally able to get a second waiter to take responsibility for our table and we were able to at least get a meal. Our worst experience over two weeks around Normandy, Brittany and Paris.
The restaurant has an ideal location, however we never got as far as ordering any food. My family were shown to a table indoors, but after 15 minutes nobody had taken our order, not even for drinks, and a customer at the next table rather rudely suggested we should leave because our children were becoming noisy. Thankfully we left, and 15 minutes later we were already eating at the nearest Pizza/Galette cafe on the beachfront.
Strange, food is served only inside in a glass enclosed space. One can only sit inside and suffocate of the heat and lack of air-conditioning.The outside open Terrace is only for short orders (drinks, coffee and ice-creams)The assortment of the Menu is fair and good, portions are nicely decorated, service very slow but friendly. sitting is placed at back to the neighbor table, noisy.
If there is one reason to go to this restaurant, surely it is the view! The oysters were delicious and really worth trying! The mussels were a bit tiny but tasty anyway. Very good wine, very nice waiters so in the end it was a...lovely time at a reasonable price (59€ for 12 oysters, mussels&French fries, 2 glasses of wine, 1 dessert, 2 coffees AND a splendid view! The bathrooms smelled absolutely horrible (both mens and ladies). It took over 15 min to get served despite being the only customers that were making an order. Drinks were awful: water for tea was barely warm, only two drops of orgeat in the Perrier, no...ice ignored for the tasteless virgin mojito...it was a pretty awful place. To be avoided.
Inefficient, rude staff. I hat 2 forks and asked 3 times for a knife my dish arrived and was cold by the time my knife arrived. The food is fairly expensive and the quality is okay we only had fish . The only good...point is the beautiful scenery otherwise generally disappointing.
It was nice to have a good dinner there !! With a fantastic view on the sea...with a sunset which let me "un grand souvenir" de Trouville, we loved the "langoustines" and the "bulots", so fresh and wonderful ! Of course the french wine was on time for our "rendez-vous" !!
Le Galatee has the big plus of being literally on the beach without the inconveniences usually associated with eating right next to the sand. Seafood is fine, service quite friendly. We repeated the lunching experience several times during our stay in Trouville. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Ate here with my brothers family on his birthday the children were catered for really well . The food was very tasty and plenty of choice at a reasonable price. Great view of the beach during a thunder storm including people trying to stay dry.
