There is something about pulling up anchors and ship ahoying to a tiny but fabulous place for a great meal that evokes courtly love and elegant couples in a painting. That is what you get when discovering or returning to le Grand Large (trans- the open sea, or the sea vista) in the Isle of Bendor. terrible service. After we served the wrong bottle wein, we wait 20 minutes until someone takes our order. Finally, the restaurant manager (who seems to be the only one for commanding) comes by and speaks very much to us. very rude wise. she argues that the restaurant has a small kitchen, so wait. we'll pick up the bill and we'll go with our bottle of wine. she says tasty as « this will release a table, good realign » “I understand that this is a small island with limited restaurant options, but this is not a valifreason for such a bad service.

Wasn't sure what to expect as you are definitely a captured market on the island, but the restaurant was just lovely, and it had a really special ambiance despite being very quiet/out of season. Complimentary bread and Olives started the meal, then a great tasting type of steak tartar, lightly flash fried to our rather British tastes without any problem. Nice pudding choice, with a lovely isle flottant. Restaurant manager was patient and forgiving with our use of French, which also made it really enjoyable. Would definitely recommend.
The Grand Large is the place to eat if you go on the ile de Bendor.The Sercvice is friendly and efficient. The food is simple with a south of France feeling. Great fish and great meat with a bottle of Rose de Bandol. Remember me the Paul Ricard time. it is worth to take the 5 Mn trip by boat and enjoy a meal at the Grand large terrace.
le grand large is located on the island bandor directly opposite bandol. the greeting is fantastic. the staff are competent, friendly and friendly. eating is excellent and a good value for money. if they are looking for a special culinary memory in a unique...setting, they cannot go wrong. bravo an brigitte and her team. johannes
friends living in bandol had told us about this restaurant so we had pre-ordered a table for lunch and I am glad we did it because it was very busy at 1.00 a.m. fortunately, we have been good in our second course! excellent eating and a wonderful environment with the sun on the Med...Perfect!

Stunning location - had lovely table for one looking out to sea, under white umbrella. Delicious steak tartare, and half carafe of local rose wine. Get there before 12.30pm as it gets very busy - or book ahead if you are 4 people or more. Worth the little ferry over for the meal alone.
We had a great experience at this restaurent because of the view more than the food . Nice and friendly staff .
