Went for dinner while visiting Quebec City, I noticed a lot of playing among the employees, but there is nothing wrong with that until you notice that this involved a lot of things that should not happen in a restaurant: dropping things, touching their hair, and then touching all the items needed at the table. The worst happened when we were seated, I was able to notice the activity in the kitchen. The cook will touch his face, put food in his mouth (this mean your fingers could have contact with saliva) and then seeing him touching people's food. My family(husband and 3 teen girls) and I went for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is on a corner and easy to find. It has two dining sections, outside seatings for couples, and a bar area. The decor is modern but cozy. The waitstaff were in good spirit, not overly friendly but not rude either. They all spoke English and French. We heard some singing in the kitchen:)We all ordered different brunch/breakfast and all enjoyed them. (Basic bkfst of eggs, sausage ham, toast, smoothie; eggs Benedict; eggs Benedict florentine; bagel plate; French toast). They all came with good coffee or standard juice. Abbiamo cenato qui una sera di metà agosto. Non avendo prenotato e non essendoci posto ci hanno sistemato al bancone del bar, comunque comodo. Servizio abbastanza veloce e personale simpatico. Il locale è carino, accogliente con musica in sottofondo gradevole. Zuppa di cipolle perfetta, bistecca di alce molto saporita con un buon contorno di verdure fresche e ben cotte, halibut un po' poco saporito ma ben servito.Birre buone.Alla fine il conto, circa 120 dollari in 2, è nella media dei prezzi canadesi e per la cena è corretto.
We had a very enjoyable evening at the Hobbit Bistro- the service was fabulous! Phil, our waiter, made us feel welcome and entertained us with his quick wit. The menu was excellent- the beet salad was exceptional, the scallops were incredible, and the angel cake simply devine! I would highly recommend this restaurant. The owner came around to all the tables to chat with the diners ensuring all was to their satisfaction- a nice touch!

My boyfriend and I were in town and we randomly ended at the Hobbit for a late dinner. The staff was very fun and friendly but the portions were rather small for such pricey plates...I had the wapiti bavette and it was cooked perfectly but my boyfriend had the flat iron steak (macreuse) and the size of the steak left him hungry afterwards (6oz for 28$!)However, the overall experience was good and we will definitely go back !
Wife and I had a great meal. Had items on the menu that you would not typically see, the food was good and presented very nicely. This was a higher end restaurant but still felt comfortable in my casual "tourist" clothes. The waiter was "jovial" and entertaining. We had a good time. Luckily we came early, about 5:30, many of the tables were reserved and the place was packed by the time we left around 7:30.
I was happy we had come here. The ambiance was nice, and the food amazing! Many breakfast choices and ample portions. I had a healthy omelette, and my son a huge breakfast platter with a huge variety of eggs,meat,salad,beans, bread. The menu looked quite varied,and I liked that the breakfast included a huge bowl cafe an lait!
We didn't reserve in advance, still we were accepted VERY nicely (Friday night). Food- no usual, interesting, tasty and really good! Service- cool very responsive and nice! A great place to have dinner!

excellent food service. would definitely recommend. the outside looks a little down, but it is a completely different atmosphere when they go inside. friendly staff.
We had a terrific meal-Bison Risotto,rack of lamb and halibut! The wait staff was wonderful as well. This is a must if you visit the city...
