You know a restaurant (in France or anywhere else) is good if you go there midweek and off season and find it well used and well liked by the locals. This is the case for us at Le Moulin. Although the restaurant is in a nicely restored mill building beside a small stream, what strikes you first (and could put some visitors off) is that it shares its car park with a Carrefour supermarket on the edge of St Valéry-sur-Somme. It’s the nearest restaurant to our B and B and we use it often ourselves and recommend it to our guests for its really sound good-value cuisine in a friendly and efficient setting. Although technically in Boismont, just outside St Valery-sur-Somme, Le Moulin is right at the entrance to the town, as you enter via the port. We have regularly enjoyed eating at Le Moulin for several years. Its setting is not beautiful (in Carrefour car park), and its décor is not famous, but its cleanliness is exceptional and the quality of food is consistently outstanding. The €12 menu is excellent value: for example, feuilleté savoyarde, sauté de porc, café gourmande. Further up the price scale, we enjoy their warm foie gras on toasted gâteau battu, the escargots, the fish soup, and the ris-de-veau crêpes, which are all delicious; and it is not often one can find delicious ostrich steaks...
We were taken for a meal here by friends and it was the nicest we had during our two week stay in Picardy. The restaurant is pleasant, unpretentious and inexpensive. Obviously family run and very welcoming. Service good, food good, atmosphere good, what more can I say. I chose the cheaper menu as I wasn't very hungry and it was absolutely excellent. Skate wing, which they had miraculously managed to bone, was excellent in a cream sauce. The cafe gourmand, which is a cup of espresso with a selection of sweet deserts was to die for. I think you are advised to book as it's very popular, even though it wasn't peak season.
Des locaux nous avaient recommandé ce restaurant, mais j'avoue que l'expérience était á la hauteur de la réputation. Nous avons aimé le service, la qualité des plats , mais aussi les prix plus que corrects ! L'ambiance y est chaleureuse, la patronne a beaucoup d'humour, nous avons passé une excellente soirée ! Bravo á vous pour votre travail qui n'est pas toujours bien récompensé par certains clients !

Restaurant where I've been with my family for many occasions, we're never disappointed. The served cuisine is tasty, season and quality. Their fish terrine is the best I could eat, I order it every time. The best value for money in Saint Valery.
Tout fut parfait. Accueil, service,Plat copieux, goûteux avec produit frais adapté au saison et cuisiné avec passion par le chef. Qualité prix imbattable . Merci à tous pour cette super soirée. Vivement la prochaine
Restaurant found by chance, we had the last table, a lot of people. The lamb of the well cooked super salty pre, a delight. I recommend.
