We had dinner at Le Pauly on our last night in France. We were seated promptly and quickly asked for our drinks order. The waitress was rather particular about the order in which she took our food : set menus first, then starters then mains. She got a little exasperated with me when I ordered the adult starters before the children's menus. Food came quickly, with our starters arriving with the children's main courses. Although the salads are in the entrée section, they are huge and could easily be had as a main course! I had the perigord salad and my husband had the caesar salad - both were very nice. The children's mains (chicken fillet or cheeseburger) were very filling and well received....
I do not think that I have ever had worse service than at this place and believe me I have travelled and eaten out a lot.The irony is that we returned for dinner after having had a good lunch a few days before.The service was simply terrible and the food not a lot better.We were a party of 10 seating at three separate tables party because they would not agree to push them together.We should have got up and walked off as many others were doing when we had waited over an hour for our starters. Problem was with such a large party it would have been difficult to find another place.It just got worse, our daughters first steak which was requested rare turned up very over cooked. We turned up on a Saturday night around 19:30 without a reservation and got a table outside no problem at the end of August. The waitress gave us a very good wine recommendation, and the staff in general were polite and friendly. Our youngest had the burger from the kids' menu and loved it, our eldest had the Classic Burger and also loved it. We had the beef skewers, and the cod. Both meals were nice, but not spectacular. Desserts - creme brulee, fondant au chocolat, and ice cream. They were fine.Once it started to get busier we waited a while for our plates to be cleared, but to be fair it looked like one waiter was doing everything on his own. He was always smiling though, and very patient...
We stopped here for lunch twice in our weeks break to nearby la Gorce. All of our party enjoyed the food. In particular the duck gizzard salad. It doesn't sound nice but was delicious and worth a try! They have an a la carte menu, and then 2 fixed price menus. All of us had plenty to choose from and enjoyed both our leisurely lunches, good food and good beer and wine. The staff were friendly and were patient with our very broken French, but helped to teach us new words when we weren't sure. We all found this nice, as want to try and speak the language but good to know when we are doing wrong too!
A quiet weekday in August (yes, they do occur) and we decided to try this typical bar / restaurant for a late lunch. We must have passed it by on dozens of occasions over the years whilst trying to navigate the tricky, blind junction when driving down from Domme. The sun shone, the service was about right, the wine was fine and the food just right. Round matters off with a cheerful and friendly local clientele and the whole experience was good. The bill was modest and we will return. What's not to like?
The food here: average. However, my daughter, aged eight, picked up on the extreme rudeness of our waiter who was impatient and did not facilitate her choosing what she wanted, despite her and our best efforts in our reasonable French (she wanted to know if it was possible to have a salad with her children's meal). We felt very rushed to make a decision and were made to feel as though we were a problem. If you wish to have a lovely meal with great, friendly service, walk up the road to La Traverse.
Popped in as few places open. Glad we did. Only had a simple meal but one of best we have had. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wine was good and not expensive. Food cooked perfectly and service was good. Definitely will return.
We stopped off to visit the local towns and we had a fabulous lunch. The owner made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed our lunch with a full glass of wine. Just perfect.
We ate here whilst holidaying in Domme. The staff were friendly and spoke fantastic English. The food was of a high standard and great value. Also very child friendly.
