Le Relais Des Volcans

We found this place doing the walk from Falgou to Puy Violent. It looks like a modern French house but inside is a restaurant. It's not a place for sophistication (bright lighting, flies, big room with photos of local mountains) but it's ideal for ramblers looking for wholesome local food. We enjoyed 2 specialities: Pounti and Truffade that were excellent. We had them in another restaurant in Salers but it was not as good and more expensive. Some locals were having a drink and then a meal, which added a bit of atmosphere. The landlords were very friendly and helpful for local walks, even offering to give us a lift back to our car. They also have a few self contained chalet type accommodation...

This restaurant is not located in Mauriac, it is about 25 minutes' drive away. It is specialized in regional food and has a beautiful environment.

Too many noodles/rice and not enough other ingredients. I disliked it so much after 2 bites I threw it out. Won't be heading back here.

I use to enjoy going for a a nice light snack or a wrap when I worked in the north industrial, unfortunately this place has closed!
