I really wanted to like this place cause its cute and the ambiance was very nice but the server was a little rude. We got there and waited to be seated, she asked the party in front of us where they wanted to sit. For us was like, hey you can sit here. (Mind the place was empty cause it was still early) then another family came and she also asked them where they wanted to sit. We got no option. Then offered us tap water that tasted really bad. She took our order after a long wait and then when we were not even done eating she gave us the check. Two sided menu, the second being strictly dedicated to vegan/vegetarian. Contained endless (hard to choose) options for non-meat dishes. Started with a carrot salad, which upon first appearance looked like a plate of shredded carrots. The mint vinaigrette dressing really added the flavor with the craisins. The main course was braised tofu. The sauce was uniquely tasty. It was the consistency of pasta sauce, yet had a bbq flavor flair to it. The potatoes were toasted and a nice complement to tofu block. Wow what I wish to have not gone here at all. The food was not great at all. I had a torta chorizo on a bun . I receive 4 small pieces of chorizo not a patty like the name suggests it is. It was very bland aside from the chorizos which were not fresh. The cilantro lime sauce was almost non existent. My mom got the duck tacos with like 2 tbsp of duck meat on each taco and it was cold. My sister got a short rib sandwich on brioche and it was okay. The lemonade I got was room temperature which was not enjoyable on a hot day. This restaurant was an amazing experience. It’s a cute cozy place with a rustic design but a beautiful interior design. The kitchen is open space and the center of the room. The first thing you notice is the smell o and it’s pleasing. I had no idea it was BYOB but the owner was so nice to give us some wine for my birthday celebration. The appetizer were a good size and packed with flavor. I recommend the chorizo. It was a favorite at the table. Their entrees are great. The consistency of the food from appetizers to desserts were so good, simple, and delicious. I will definitely come back. I highly recommend it.

Le Salbuen Cafe is a sweet little find NOT in the busy part of Montclair (aka Bloomfield Ave). It’s still only street parking but there aren’t many restaurants and shops around. The place is tiny- less than ten tables. They do take reservations but the service is very disorganized. They often forget about requests or even forget to serve items. The food selection is vast- a vegan/vegetarian menu and a carnivore menu. The prices are also quite reasonable. You’ll have a full stomach after coming to Le Salbuen but you’ll also be disappointed by their service.
Good service good food can't be beat. My first meal at Salbuen was absolutely delicious and impressive. We ordered the Portuguese french toast, the almond butter toast, and vegan tacos which were all excellent and highly recommended. We also got the hash but it was only ok and I wouldn't order it again. The hot chocolate is also a must have. It's flavored with fresh chocolate and cinnamon and paired perfectly with my French toast.
As a vegan, I was thrilled to find that this restaurant offers a variety of options on their vegan menu for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The food was delicious and the ambience of the restaurant was charming. I will definitely be returning for more. The dishes were bursting with flavor. Highly recommend this fantastic spot!
What a lovely little cafe! Went for brunch today and had a lovely time with my grown children. My salmon was a little dry and I am recovering from cancer and don't have a normal amount of saliva so anything a little dry is hard for me to eat. It was very yummy, though, and everyone else loved their food.

Whatever you do...don’t go here. Because I don’t want it to be busy next time I go. Ha ! Seriously it’s my favorite spot in Montclair. Be prepared to wait for a table. P.S. They do way more than just brunch
I didn’t try one thing at night that I didn’t like. Really cute vibe inside as well. It’s relaxed but well orchestrated. I will definitely be coming back.
