And that's all to be said for it. Menu at 23.80 looked good, so we went for it. First course was advertised as tapas, although the description was the only link to Spain. Cold, tasteless chicken breast in fajita wraps, shrimp on a cracker, and olive wrapped in English bacon? Accompanied by a supermarket salad smeared in brown sauce. Next came an entrecôte, stringy and inedible, with frozen chips fried to dark brown in a failed attempt to thaw them. Again the supermarket salad, hopefully not re-plated. To finish, the cheese plate seemed the most difficult to ruin, but they managed it anyway. Three sad pieces of cheese, delivered direct from the fridge. And yes, the supermarket salad appeared...
This is quite a nice place but the service and the food let them down. We were a party of 8 having booked in advance. 3 of the 5 were not happy with their meal. One meal a pizza arrrived when most of the other 7 had eaten. The chicken pizza was very mean on the chicken. Others had a salmon salad but I have never before seen white salmon. 3 of the party had deserts. I asked for Cafe Creme with a glass of Irish Whisky. They hadn't any Irish Whisky yet they had Irish Coffee (with included a measure of Irish Whisky) on the menu. I wouldn't go back there.
When I went to this restaurant last time I vowed I would never go back but as a friend was taking me and paying I had no choice. My experience this time was better but then there were only two of us. We both ordered steaks and they were excellent. Pity the red wine was cold and their choice of non-alcohlic drinks was either water or drinks heavy in sugar. Surely restaurants should at least have a Beer sans acohol and even better a wine. I'd go back to the restaurant but not with a party booking.
It was so good here that we returned the next night..!! The staff were charming, friendly and helpful and the food was very good. There were 8 of us in our party, which can often cause problems but, no problems at all. The restaurant was busy so all was perfect, food, service and ambience. The second night, when there were just 3 of us, was equally as good so we would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant as an excellent place to eat.
