The service and atmosphere were fantastic! I ordered the chicken cacciatore with penne noodles, but it turned out to be one of the worst meals I've ever had. The chicken had a texture similar to plastic and completely lacked flavor. I found myself adding salt, pepper, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes, but nothing improved the taste. At $30, I don’t mind spending money on a good meal, but this dish was not at all what I expected. I ended up having to leave my friend’s house and go home to force myself to finish the leftovers just to avoid wasting my money. Honestly, it tasted like something from a fear factor challenge.
Mike always ensured that everything was top-notch, and his legacy continues to thrive. My favorite dish is their Chicken Parm—it’s genuinely the best I’ve ever had. I should mention that you do get what you pay for, so if you’re looking for inexpensive meals, this might not be the right place. However, if you have a hearty appetite and are willing to spend a bit more, definitely go for it. The food never disappoints. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it ideal for special occasions or a nice date. They also have a great bar selection and some of the freshest Italian cuisine in the area.
It's been years since our last visit to LoPorto, and it was just as busy as I remembered. The food here continues to impress with its delicious take on classic Italian dishes, all at a reasonable price. My only complaint is the outdated decor and Formica bar. The large, unattractive coat rack also adds to the aesthetic issue. While these concerns won't deter me from returning, they do take away from the otherwise excellent dining experience that LoPorto offers.
I enjoyed the lasagna, while my daughter chose the eggplant Parmesan, both of which were fantastic. The wine selection was impressive as well. For appetizers, we shared garlic butter clams, which were delicious. Our hostess and waitress, Sharyn, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was intimate and relaxing. We stopped by to say hello to Emily, who works here, and thought we might enjoy a cocktail at the bar. Somehow, we ended up having dinner and drinks, and wow, this place is fantastic! Paul mixed up one of the best Martinis I've ever tasted, and the dinner was both generous in portion size and delicious. We ordered the veal with mushrooms, and it even came with a full plate of spaghetti!
This restaurant is one of the best authentic Italian spots around. It has a warm, family-like atmosphere and excellent service. Plus, the martinis are outstanding!
