I have been to many restaurants and bars in Ystradgynlais, but The Loaf is definitely the best in town. The food is fantastic with a great selection of draught beers and cocktails. The service is outstanding, the staff are friendly and helpful. I first visited in December last year and had the Giant Breakfast with a caramel mocha, which was the best breakfast and coffee I've ever had. The second time I went was for a quiz night, where I had draught Guinness and tapas - the tapas were beautiful, especially the meatballs. I have worked up the road for 23 years and have never really heard about this place, so I popped in to see one of my favorite work colleagues. I found a seat and ordered two coffees, which were very nice and served by a well-mannered and pleasant waitress named Cassie. I started to get full around 1pm, so I suggest arriving by 12pm. I'm not sure if they take bookings. I didn't realize they served food until I saw someone order the Sausage and Mash, which looked nice. I will definitely be going back again. -Michael
I visited this restaurant two days in a row because my hotel was not serving breakfast. This place was a welcoming oasis. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was great with many locals, the food was delicious and arrived promptly, the coffee was decent, and the tray bakes were tasty for takeout. We felt very welcome and by the second day, we felt like we were a part of the local community. I highly recommend this place.
Called in for a coffee and cake, my husband wanted a bowl of chips, and we were unable to order as we were not allowed to order only sides off the menu!! Also first seat we got seated at smelt of dog urine !
