Dropped in for take away coffee yesterday, it was busy and this makes it stand out against everywhere else right now. No social distancing, didn't see any signs for one way, mask wearing when walking around not required, nor worn by staff (a member of...staff told a customer it wasn't necessary). I felt really uncomfortable when a group of older ladies came in queued right over my shoulder, and then proceeded to hug and kiss another friend who arrived later- ostentatiously right in the middle of the cafe. Same ladies had friendly banter with the staff and learnt right over the counter to talk. Covid is a thing and people are continuing to catch it and die, no wonder Kingston has a rising rat...
Shocked by the now poor menu, very high pricing and rude service. We have always enjoyed an early breakfast here, particularly at this time of year. Park early, breakfast and and then a bit of Christmas shopping. Today though we visited, They no longer do...the full breakfast menu and have a very limited choice. We ordered two coffees, scrambled eggs with avocado and bacon, a resounding Eggs were bland and unseasoned. Coffee was ok. I was told that they “Do not serve sauces!” When I asked for ketchup. What a shame, we will not be going back. There are now better places in Kingston. Given it was quite empty today, I think we are not alone in thinking this.
Every Thursday we come up to Surbiton to babysit our year old grandson. If the weather's nice we'll walk along the towpath towards Kingston. Today was one such day, but agreed that we needed some sustenance as a reward so we decided to have...a coffee and cake at the Local Hero' in Thames Street. First time there. Staff very friendly. Two flat whites were excellent ... served hot, with a nutty' bean flavour that was pleasantly different. My chocolate brownie was to die for'; all chocolatey and gooey. My wife's mandarine and chocolate' cake (GF) was excellent, too. Nuff said. Us two oldies will be back there very soon.
I walked into local hero on the way to meet a friend from Kingston. Not visiting before I ordered an oat Flat White. Prior to my visit I thought I preferred light roasted coffee, however after trying this shops own blend of medium dark roast...I was overjoyed by how sweet the coffee WITH NO BITTER AFTER TASTE. Extremely good job and a step in the right direction for specialty coffee. specialty shops should take a leaf out of their book. Excellent service with a smile on their face even during the busy hours I visited. Looking forward to my next visit!

Staff pleasant and nice cafe. Rather pricey. My coffee was nice but my friend had a pot of tea for Only one tea bag and he said it was so weak that the tea flavour wasn't strong enough to make it out of the...pot and into the cup. Pots of tea are usually cheaper than coffee. Sandwiches at plus looked nice but again rather expensive for a posh sandwich.
Always come here when I come to Kingston as coffee great. Limited selection of food at the moment but what we had was good. Always good music playing too.. Staff friendly. Only small niggle is I didn’t see any table surfaces cleaned in between customers...when we were there and made me wonder if my table was clean. Hopefully just an off day.
A friend and I met for coffee here. The staff are friendly and efficient and the coffees were good. I was surprised to be charged pence extra for OAT milk (listed on bill as a modifier option I hope to try going for lunch...sometime soon. At this point there was very little social distancing- seems to be the case more often than not.
I am a regular customer since and a loyal fan of this coffee shop. The name Local Hero speaks for itself ) Great service, friendly staff and delicious coffee. I especially would like to thank Galina for her outstanding service and a tasty cup of...coffee(s)!

Disgusting Coffee! Horrid service! We often go to local hero in Fulham and that’s nice ! This is not worth the visit!
