Last Saturday night, I left the house and headed straight to the Lock Tavern to meet friends I was spending NYE with. I was stopped at the entrance by a bouncer telling me I was intoxicated and was refused the entrance. I certainly wasn't drunk, as I had only ONE can of beer before heading to the venue. While I was refused, I saw other customers visibly drunk, going in and out of the bar. When I confronted the bouncer, he rudely said he doesn’t care and he is not letting me in. Dreadful dining experience. I paid a £10 deposit to reserve a table in advance, but when I arrived 40 minutes early, my booking and table could not be located for 20 minutes. When they finally found my reservation, I was informed that they had run out of Sunday Dinners, the only item on the menu. They claimed to have tried to call me to reserve food (which they did not) and said they had also sent me an email. Upon checking, I did receive an email about the food shortage while I was waiting at the bar for my table. We popped into The Lock Tavern ahead of our Peaky Blinders immersive experience across the road at Camden. Whilst we didn’t eat save for a couple packets of crisps, which was duly washed down with a round of drinks. The food coming out of the kitchen did look pretty good to be fair HOWEVER post a quick visit to their toilets I certainly won’t be eating there any time soon. They were in a word disgusting. They smelt, had paper towels all over and not a drop of soap in sight! After leaving the toilet I reported this to a young lady behind the bar, which didn’t seem to get any response whatsoever. It's rare I find myself wanting to write a review of a night from a few weeks ago. I've been to the Lock Tavern before, and every single time I go completely outdoes the last time. Rahela was a delight and Muna was an absolute diamond. To call you ladies professional, kind, courteous, friendly, bubbly and welcoming would be an understatement. The drinks kept flowing and I had a wonderful time with my family. I absolutely loved my time here, again, and a huge thanks to the staff for the joy of their company at many brief points through the night! Love this pub….it’s my favourite Camden venue. Visited with my wonderful son for an early evening meal, as per the staff were excellent BUT the food very very disappointing….I ordered the Caesar salad which I have to say was more than disappointing…limp lettuce, stale croutons , one egg and 2 of the smallest anchovies …. I should have sent it back when it turned up looking like a poor excuse of a salad….let’s hope it improves next time…….my sons Fish and chips was equally as weak but let him leave his own review. Apart from that I still like the venue and the staff , just have a word with the kitchen…….xx
We visited The Lock Tavern for a late-night drink. I ordered a beer and my partner ordered an Espresso Martini. While waiting for the cocktail, I observed the bartender. I noticed that he opened a container that appeared to be dirty and unsanitary. He poured the liquid from this container into my partner's Martini. I didn't think much of it at the time. Later that night, when we returned home, my partner became extremely ill and vomited multiple times. This information is important for you to be aware of.
I was shocked when the bartender tried to overcharge me by 53 pounds on my 17 pound bill using the card machine. It was clear that this was no simple mistake, as she quickly presented the machine to me without hesitation. I made sure to check the amount before paying and confronted her about the error. Her nonchalant and arrogant response suggested that this was a common practice at this establishment. I would recommend steering clear of this place at all costs.
I can’t remember how to spell her name but mailka is the most amazing waitress. She was so polite and amazing to our very large groups needs. So positive and smiley and nothing was an issue. Can’t thank her enough for making our experience here amazing!! Thank you Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Mysoginistic aggressive bouncers causing problems among punters for no reason except for being on a power trip (young Asian man in particular). Our group of 12 left along with a separate group of six, due to his behaviour. Will never go back there.
